"HawkClan! Retreat!" A golden tom yowled.

A light brown she-cat hissed at a calico she-cat, "This isn't the end of HawkClan! We will return!" Claws and teeth stopped slashing as a group of badly wounded cats half-limped, half-ran deeper into the forest. The cats that remained were also badly wounded and they returned their attention to the injured cats.

"Are you okay, Spottedfur?" A concerned, dark gray she-cat asked a black-and-white spotted tom.

"I'm fine, Rainpool," Spottedfur meowed. "How's Pebblepaw?"

Pebblepaw limped toward her parents. "I'm fine Spottedfur, really. I just have a scratch, see?" The small, slender, dark gray she-cat turned to show Rainpool and Spottedfur a gash on her flank. "Twigfur and Sandpaw can take care of it!" She protested.

"I'm sure she'll be fine," A silvery she-cat mewed.

"Yes, Moonstar," Rainpool mewed, lowering her head in respect.

"Besides," Moonstar meowed, looking down at Pebblepaw, "Pebblepaw will be receiving her warrior name soon."

"Yes!" Pebblepaw mewed excitedly, "I can't wait!"

"Pebblepaw, you fought like a warrior today against HawkClan," Moonstar meowed to the cats gathered under Highbranch, "Now, you will become a warrior." Moonstar turned her head to Silverpelt. "I, Moonstar, the leader of LeafClan call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn." The silver leader gazed down at Pebblepaw, "Pebblepaw, do you promised to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Pebblepaw looked around nervously. Her parent's shining eyes and her best friend, Mapleheart, were telling her that it was her time now.

"I do," Pebblepaw mewed eagerly, thoughts racing through her head.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Pebblepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Pebblepelt. StarClan honors your strength and courage, and we welcome you as a full warrior of LeafClan."

"Pebblepelt! Pebblepelt! Pebblepelt!" LeafClan chanted the newly made warrior's name.

Pebblepelt felt a surge of joy and pride as the clan honored her.

"Congratulations, Pebblepelt!" Rainpool mewed to her daughter as she licked Pebblepelt's fur.

"That was awesome!" Mapleheart exclaimed, rubbing muzzles with Pebblepelt.

"Remember you have to sit vigil tonight," Spottedfur nudged her, "Be glad it's newleaf."

Pebblepelt nodded and took her place at the edge of camp as the sun slowly sank in the crimson sky.

"Twigfur?" A golden she-cat mewed, "Can I ask you something?"

"Yes?" The skinny, light brown tom replied.

"Well I've been wondering, how do you know if something is a sign from StarClan?"

"Well, you get a certain feeling. Why do you ask?"

"I think I saw a vision from StarClan."

"Really? What was it?"

"I saw some pebbles snowing from the sky while I was collecting herbs and a voice sounded in my head and it kept repeating the same words over and over. 'Snowing pebbles...'"

"I don't know what this means yet, but keep it in your mind, it may mean something important."

"Thank you, Twigfur. Good night," Sandpaw mewed.

"You're welcome." Twigfur meowed as he settled down in his nest.
