Anna was missing.
A sob escaped her throat; face buried in her hands, the woman wishing she was asleep... That everything hadn't happened.
Her worst nightmare had come true.
Someone had found them and taken her little girl.
"Leets?"
She lifted her head at the sound of her brother's voice. Half brother, if anyone really wanted to know. Same father, different mothers. Her mother's features more prominent than their father's so no one was able to tell they were related. Reaching out to him, he was quick to wrap her up in his arms.
"What happened?" Chris Jericho questioned after a long period of silence. He moved so that he was seated on the foot of the bed, clutching both of her hands in his own. Letting his gaze travel over her form, a deep frown settled on his face. There were bruises marring her left cheek and a bandage wrapped around her forehead, apparently they had managed to bust her open. Her hospital gown hiding the bandages that were wrapped around her ribs...
She shook her head, more tears springing from her eyes as she retold the day's events.
It had happened so quickly... One moment they were at the park, the redhead pushing her daughter on the swing, grinning at the sound of Anna's laughter... And the next moment... Someone had come up behind her, hitting her with enough force that she had stumbled forward, the person then grabbing hold of her and sending her face first onto the metal bars of the swing set. She had cried out in pain, aware that her little girl was screaming and crying for them to stop hurting her mommy. She cried out when they continued their assault, punching and kicking at her.
The last thing she had felt were tiny hands as they shook her, her daughter begging her to wake up was the last thing she heard as she began to lose consciousness.
Lita had never seen her attacker.
When she woke up, she found herself in the hospital where her companions were a nurse and two policemen. She informed the nurse that she wanted her brother, the middle-aged woman only nodded and left, leaving her to tell the officers what had happened.
"They promised they would do their best to find her," she said, pushing herself away from her brother with shaky hands. She stared up at him with frightened hazel eyes.
"What if it was him, Chris? Oh God, what if he has Anna?!"
"Shh... I promise you, he does not have Anna, okay?" the blonde Canadian told her.
"Then who does?! If not him, then who? Who would steal my baby from me?!"
Jericho opened his mouth, but was interrupted by the ringing of his cell phone. Aware of hospital policy, he quickly reached into the back pocket of his jeans to end the call. Only to have them call him back a few seconds later...
"It's Christian," he informed her, shooting a glance at the closed door. After he had determined that no one would be entering the room anytime soon, he accepted the call and lifted his cell phone to his ear.
"Where the hell are you?" the other blonde Canadian demanded.
"I'm-"
"Never mind that. Is there a television set near? Turn to RAW."
Chris Jericho frowned, shrugging his shoulders at his sister's questioning gaze as he reached for the remote and turned the channel to Monday night RAW. Their eyes widening at what was happening...
Kane may not have Anna, but Mickie James sure did.
