We Learned the Sea: Prologue
The screeching sound and bright, yellow lights was what made me turn around. The sight of the car wasn't surprising but, the person behind the wheel made me freeze in place. I stood in the middle of the snow covered street and stared wordlessly at Toby Cavanaugh's face. His face was masked in fear and desperation as he struggled to move the steering wheel.
It was ironic-how fate would toy with us because the person who vowed to kill me this morning was finally getting his wish just like I was getting mine.
I should have screamed. I should have felt the pain.
But, I didn't.
The black car hit me with full force and I felt my body hit the windshield and roll down. Pieces of glass surrounded me slowly-like the falling snow-before I finally hit the ground.
The coldness grasped me with its icy arms and before I finally closed my eyes, I heard Toby Cavanaugh's haunting scream.
