Klaus sat at his desk, writing down incoherent thoughts in fragmented sentences. The scent of perfume was intoxicating and usually, he loved it, but today the scent was driving him mad. He threw the inkwell off the desk, watching as it broke and splattered black ink against the wall. A soft click from the door made him jump. That boy was here again. Why did he keep coming back when Klaus was trying so hard to push him away. Klaus glared at him and knelt on the floor, starting to clean up the mess the ink had made. "What are you doing here Hiram?"
"Is now a bad time?" He asked.
"Its always a bad time when it comes to you." He growled, setting his hand a little too roughly on the broken glass. "Ow! Damnit…"
Hiram was instantly at the older mans side. "Let me clean the mess up for you…you need to wash your hand." There was a softness in his voice that only angered Klaus more.
"Will you just leave already?" He spat.
Hiram looked up at him with innocent green eyes and shaggy brown hair hanging in his face. "Why? Don't you want my help?" He smiled.
Hiram was too cheerful for him, it seemed no matter what Klaus did to him, he always came back with that same smile. "I want you gone." Klaus grabbed both of Hiram's wrists with one hand and stood him up, pinning his wrists against the wall roughly. "Why do you always smile at me like that? Don't you know what it does to me?" The anger was evident in his eyes and he tried to stop himself from speaking but the words flowed out freely. "I could easily hurt you. Anyone could when you smile at them like that."
"You wont" Hiram's forest green eyes met Klaus' cold gray, behind the happy innocence there was a great deal of strength Klaus hadn't noticed before.
"I wont what?" His face was so close to Hiram's he could feel his breath.
HIram knew it would be easy to overpower the older man, he could just pull his arms away and leave. "You wont hurt me." His normal happy voice grew darker as he spoke. "You could cause me harm but you wont. As much as you want me to think you are a bad man I know you're not." Without hesitating Hiram leaned forward so his lips met Klaus'.
Up until this moment Klaus had though he was in control, only now realizing Hiram had been in control of the relationship between them all along, since the first day they met. He relaxed into his kiss, letting go of his wrists. Wary hands finding their way to the small of the younger mans back, held him close. Finally pulling apart Klaus couldn't refrain from asking the question that had made him push Hiram away. "Don't you want a younger man? Someone closer to your age?"
"I only ever wanted you."
Klaus held him tightly, like this all he could smell was the scent of the forest and river without a single drop of perfume, and it was divine.
