Cas watched Dean from his perch in the tree by his house. Ever since he had been reassigned for getting too close to his charge, Dean, he had refused all other jobs just to be near him even if he wasn't allowed to show his face. He remembered what Dean had said just before Cas was forced to wipe his memory of his angel. He had said 'Cas… I'll miss you and I'll always remember'. 'No you won't' was the sad reply right before his mind was erased. Cas had noticed that Dean had a new affinity for wearing trench coats however and for a brief period of time he had been worried that he hadn't wiped his mind completely but he found that he didn't really care. He watched through a window as Dean hummed AC/DC and folded his adopted daughter's clothes. Her name was Cassy and she was out with her other father at the moment. Something caught Cas's eye and he transported to the side of the house where he saw an armed man about to break one of Dean's windows to rob the house, and quite possibly shoot Dean. Cas cleared his throat. The man whirled around and snarled.
"What do you want?" He growled.
"I would appreciate it if you wouldn't break into this house." The angel said simply.
"Why the hell would I listen to you?"
"Because if you didn't you would make a very powerful enemy." The man spat at Cas's feet and the angel held his gaze evenly. "That was a mistake. You see, my father doesn't control me any longer. At least not when it comes to the person in this house. The person in this house means a great deal to me, even if he doesn't remember and I will kill to protect them and anyone important to them."
"What the hell are you? A cop?" The guy asked, backing up a bit.
"No. I am Castiel, an angel of the Lord." Cas said right before he grabbed the man's head and jerked it to the side, snapping his neck. "And Dean Winchester is under my care." He told the corpse at his feet.
