It was great when Mrs. Agreste and her son Felix returned from Tibet. Sure, him and his father had a lot of questions, but his mother had quickly wiped them away.
Adrien now had more.
Plagg was happily nuzzling in Felix's hair.
"Y-You were a Chat Noir?"
"Before you.' his brother said. Absently, he reached up to pet the kwami without looking up from his book. "I was partnered with the current Ladybug."
His younger twin gulped. He knew he had been a replacement that was needed because of Hawkmoth but...still. He wasn't sure how Ladybug would react. "D-Did you love her?"
"In a way, yes."
"How-"
"Go to sleep Adrien. We have school tomorrow."
Ah, yes. School.
"We aren't done talking about this."
Felix waved him off, Plagg following. Already, he could hear the demand for Camembert. When he was sure that Adrien was gone, he pulled out a picture.
A familiar girl with hair so dark it was blue smiled up at him. "I've missed more people."
"Felix!?"
Adrien glanced between his best friend and his twin. Nino was staring at Felix like he was seeing a ghost, while the blonde was just looking around. "Hello Lahiffe."
"That's all you have to say?!" the boy yelled. Shock was overtaken by anger. "We all thought you were dead! Chloe was fake crying for a week. And here I thought we were friends."
"You know we only hung out because of Mari-"
"FELIX AGRESTE!"
Marinette stood at the top of the stairs, glaring down at his brother. Everyone's gazes turned to her and the subject of her fury. Slowly, they started backing away. Nino followed, Adrien curiously watching. A rare smile, however, appeared on his face. "Hello."
"Hello? That's all you have to say!?"
She started to storm down the stairs. Felix stood at the end, watching her.
"Everyone was saying that you and Mrs. Agreste had disappeared with no trace! We all thought you were dead!" Tears had started to form. "I thought you were dead!"
He pulled her into a hug.
Silence.
Marinette stood on the last step, hugged by his touch sensitive brother. Her fury seemed to be extinguished, replaced by anguish. Tears streamed down her face as she hugged back.
"I'm sorry." he whispered. "I wanted to let you know I was leaving, I really did. But the trip was pounced on me and I never got the chance to let you know."
"It's okay. Just...don't scare me like that, okay?"
"I promise." They separated, Felix reaching into his bag. He came out with a small book and a scarf. "But I took pictures of fashion there. The scarf's from Kathmandu."
Marinette unrolled the scarf, smiling at the design. The bell rang as she wrapped it around her neck. Felix smiled as they started to walk together, her talking about fashion in Tibet. She had probably already thought of a few designs.
Adrien was left at the stairs, confused.
And feeling like he had been left out of something.
