"Sandra, what are you doing here?" Jack asked as a red tear stained faced Sandra stood on his doorstep.
"Can I come in?" Sandra asked weakly.
"Yeah, coffee?" He asked as she sat on the sofa.
"No thank you."
"What's wrong?" Jack asked biting the bullet.
"He's walked out."
"Who? Gerry?" Jack asked shocked as she nodded her head. "What happened?"
"We had an argument." Sandra began as she broke down in tears all over again. "It was stupid really but we both said things we didn't mean and he stormed out and hasn't been back since and that was yesterday evening. I stayed up all night waiting and he didn't so much send me a text telling me he was safe."
"I'm sure he's just off calming down somewhere."
"Yeah but he usually texts me, so I know where he is and that he's safe."
"Wine?"
"Yes please." Sandra replied as Jack left to get a bottle and two glasses.
"I hope this is okay, it's all I've got in." Jack began before noticing that Sandra was fast asleep on the sofa. "Am I really that boring Mary? Actually don't answer that." He noticed Sandra's phone flashing by her side alerting him to that fact that Gerry was calling.
"Babe, I'm so sorry." Gerry said as Jack picked up the phone.
"That's fine, I forgive you. Sandra may take some more convincing though."
"Very funny, is she at yours Jack?"
"Yeah."
"Can I talk to her?"
"No."
"Jack I know she probably hates me just now but I need to fix this."
"No, you can't because she's dead to the world on my sofa just now."
"Ah, I'm on my way."
"I'd advise that you bring presents."
"Have I messed up that much?"
"Yes, she was a mess."
"Right, I'll be over soon."
"Don't bother, she didn't sleep at all last night. I'll text you when she looks like she's stirring." Jack told Gerry as he laid a blanket across Sandra.
"Thanks."
