Lucy felt the heat of the sun on her skin, and the wind blowing gently across the world around her. The view of the quiet town below, her home, was magical, though she knew from such a sight that something would not be right.
She hadn't seen her home in a long time, she thought as she sat on the bright green grass, and her family was worried about her recently. She hoped they were okay, and told them that her days were fine, just like they always were.
It was that feeling of being young again, a child with little to think about but playing and lunch, that filled her stomach with worry.
Up here, she felt like a princess, like she did when she was younger, and below was her kingdom, one that awaited her cheery attitude. She just didn't want to run down the hill like she did when she was a young lass though.
With her heavy sigh, she looked up into the light blue sky, seeing the stars bouncing on the white clouds and the moon dancing with the sun. She wished she could be up there, queen of the days, lover of the nights. Here, Lucy was lost in the mystery.
Her ears twitched as she heard rustling behind her, and turned her head to see a dark forest. She stood up as quick as her sharp intake of breath, and watched the silhouette of Alfendi form in the shadows.
He smiled, hands deep in his coat pockets as he stepped out of the darkness and towards her.
Lucy couldn't help but reach her hand out, wanting nothing more than to feel him again. The silence around them unnerved her, because she still felt the wind, and saw birds fly away from the forest behind him.
He pulled a hand out of one of his pockets and his eyes widened. Slowly, he placed her hand on his.
Just like that, her frown returned, and she knew she'd never feel him here. She curled her fingers, nothing but air moving through them as they passed right though his hand.
Still keeping his happy expression, he bowed to her, like a prince to his princess, and even though they couldn't touch each other, he guided her hand up with his. Willingly, she moved close to him and he put his other hand on her back. Finally, she placed her arm near his, and she felt him lead her in circles.
They were dancing, and even without music, the two of them moved in time.
Finally, she was a princess, with her fancy parties and well-dressed servants, the beautiful dress she had seen her mother wear twirling around with them and grazing her legs. She was wearing it. Her heart fluttered as she heard her dance partner chuckle.
Her prince, in his nice, black suit, though hastily put on and lightly worn, made him appear so sophisticated. She couldn't help her smile.
Little Lucy's dreams were all she had left.
