It was 11:30 pm. A white haired boy named Near was sneaking around the Japanese Task Force's Headquarters. "Why does the SPK have to be so protective of me?" he thought "I'd bet Mello is able to go or do whatever he wants, so why can't I?"

The building was cold, dark, and quiet. Near was used to that, but he still felt a bit nervous. "What if I get caught? What if the second L is actually Kira and he finds me and kills me?" Near shuttering at that thought he continued "...Even worse, what if the SPK noticed that I'm gone and are searching for me?!" Near searched the dark, attempting to find the exit "I have to go back to the SPK Headquarters now!"

Seeing the exit sign, he let out a sigh of relief, which was stifled by a muffled wail. Near froze. It was Touta Matsuda, the youngest of Japanese Task Force. He was sitting up on the couch, head hung low, eyes closed, and his hands pressed together. "What is this pathetic guy doing?" Near wondered.

"God, why can't I do anything right? Why do I appear as just another idiot to the others?" Matsuda cried. Near realized that he was praying, and suddenly felt sympathy towards the young man. He didn't know him in person, but he seemed like a good man.

"He's definitely not Kira," Near thought. He examined the young man. Long black hair, navy blue suit, and an innocent looking face.

Matsuda clasped his face in his hands. "Please god... Help me! I want to prove them wrong. I want to prove that I can do something important. "

Near looked away in defeat. He couldn't stand watching this man in this state. Matsuda's emotional state tugged at Near's cold heart. Without thinking, Near took a step back, and the floor made a loud creak.

The pale boy stopped dead in his tracks. Matsuda lifted his head and looked at Near. Near looked back like a deer in headlights. Matsuda stared at Near, surprised.

Near was startled by the man's reaction. "I can explain-"

"A...A...Angel!" Matsuda's jaw dropped.

Near tilted his head. "Uh..."

"God really did listen to me! He sent me an angel!" Matsuda cried in excitement.

'Gee, the Task Force was correct, this man is really an idiot' Near thought.

"Yes, that is right Matsuda, I am indeed your guardian angel," Near lied.

"Whoa... you're beautiful" Matsudas eyes widened

"Uh... thanks." Near shifted awkwardly.

"So tell me, are all angels albinos?"

Near blushed, embarrassed at the remark "No... It's just me."

"Yeah! My angel is unique!"

The boy rolled his eyes as the man jumped in the air, excited. "Okay, I'm sorry but I have somewhere to be right now."

"NO! Before you go, please tell me why you were sent to me!"

"Uh... um... to help you prove to the Task Force that you are not an idiot," Near replied. "But in order for me to help you, you've got to repay me somehow"

"Alright! What can I do for you, albino angel?" Matsuda answered.

"Don't call me that." He paused to think. "You have buy me toys whenever I ask you to."

Matsuda put out his hand "Deal!"

"I don't shake hands with people," Near opened the exits door. "Bye, Matsuda." He said before closing the door behind him.
