Smoke Skulls
Spoilers: none
Summary: Drabble-ish; on a quiet night, Spirit discovers one of Stein's hidden talents
I don't own Soul Eater. Though I might claim to if the consequence would be Stein dissecting me...
"Was that a skull!?" A cry shattered the peaceful night, causing the quieter young man to shake his head in reproach. Rather than replying in words, he simply blew another stream of smoke; it was indeed shaped like a skull.
"Woah," breathed his companion. Stein chuckled. Spirit-senpai was amazed by the strangest things.
"Can you do any other stuff?" Spirit kept his eyes glued to the air just in front of Stein's mouth.
The technician shrugged and complied, this time producing a perfect ring of smoke. With a wave of his hand, he directed it to hang over Spirit's head.
"How did you learn how to do that?" Spirit asked, watching as Stein turned yet another puff of smoke into a skull.
"Hm, well, this little guy taught me, in exchange for a replacement finger. It was strange," Stein recalled.
"Huh," Spirit stared at the fading smoke-ring above his head. "Still, it's pretty sweet."
"I never did get the hang of color-changing thing, though," Stein murmured to himself, ignoring Spirit's questioning gaze.
The two continued to enjoy the rare, uneventful night.
I'd ask for guesses about what the crossover is, but since I hardly ever get any reviews anyway, I'll just say it: I'm the first person to write a Soul Eater/Tolkien fic! The image of Gandalf and Bilbo blowing smoke rings atop Bag End suddenly entered my mind wouldn't leave me alone. And in the Hobbit, Gandalf does actually make them change colors.
And in case you're wondering, the "little guy" was Frodo, after the end of the Lord of the Rings. I'm sure he'd learned from Bilbo and Gandalf at some point. How'd he meet Stein? Maybe Death City is actually the Grey Havens. We may never know!
