The Gift
Starsky sat in his car waiting for Hutch it was a cold Christmas Eve morning there was a slight snowfall and everything seemed so crisp and frosty "good morning " Starsky for a few moments was in a world of his own, " morning you took your time" Hutch sat down and looked at his friend and partner " Well Starsk it's Christmas Eve are you looking forward to the big day " Starsky grinned at Hutch with the biggest grin he could give " Now look Hutch l know your not into Christmas the way I am, but inside me there's a big kid and I can be that kid on Christmas Day,cause it's that time of the year where I can be me, you auta try it " "Starsk I have nothing against this season of good will but it's all about who can buy the biggest most expensive gift it's all commercialised " Starsky started the engine and off they went
Captain Dobey was in his office " morning Cap how are you on this beautiful morning " Captain Dobey looked at Hutch " has your partner been popping happy pills" "it's Christmas Cap you know how Starsky gets at Christmas " Captain Dobey riffled through some paper work," right you two finish writing up those reports and go" Starsky looked at Hutch " you mean go home Cap" " yes go home" As the boys were leaving the office Captain Dobey called Hutch back, " you go Starsk I'll catch you up " Hutch sat down " did you do as I asked Cap it's important did you "Captain Dobey sat up straight " yes all sorted" " good be at mine tomorrow around one o'clock and pick Huggy up on the way
Christmas morning had arrived and Hutch had no sooner got out of bed when there was a knock at the door " Merry Christmas "Starsky stood in the doorway " Merry Christmas too you to Starsk you do know what time it is " Starsky came in and made himself at home " I got you this I hope you like it" Hutch opened his gift and found the most outrageous Christmas jumper you could imagine " it's beautiful just beautiful " Hutch said in his most unenthusiastic way " put it on, come on I'll help you" Hutch told Starsk that he would put it on when his guests arrived " your gift Starsk will have to wait till our company arrive, don't worry it will be worth the wait
Starsky helped Hutch set the table the food smelled delicious,there was a knock at the door "answer the door Starsk and let our guests in " Starsky opened the door and there stood Captain Dobey and Huggy "Merry Christmas come on in Hutch has made a feast please let me take your coats " the two men walked inside " ok Hutch where's my gift you said I could have it when our guests arrive " " so I did" said Hutch . Hutch walked towards the tree and reached for a box that was wrapped with red ribbon "this is for you dear friend I hope you will enjoy " just as he was about to open his gift there was a knock at the door " Starsk the door, Starsk the door,please answer the door " " ok I'll get the door " Starsky opened the door and standing in front of him was the best gift he could ever ask for Ma it's you,Hutch it's Ma,look everyone it's Ma " Hutch walked up to his partner " of course it's your Ma , doesn't every kid need there Ma at Christmas
