Author's note: A quick one-shot, my first O.C. story. And a crappy one at that, but I promised someone I'd try. So review if you like, and if you hate. I can take it. ;)
Disclaimer: As much as I would love to have my very own Summer, Seth, Captain Oats, Princess Sparkle, The Valley Season One DVDs, Sandy's eyebrows, and Julie's Dior bathing suit...I don't own it. So that really sucks.

It had been 3 months since Seth had returned to Newport.
Seth had made 4 attempts to be Summer's friend, the first 3 failing miserably.
Summer had cried 5 times in the school bathroom between classes, hidden away in a stall, since then.
But Seth didn't know about the last part. All he knew was that he had Summer back. Well, at least a small percentage of her. He had put all of his energy into being friends with her, and it was finally working.
He kind of thought that the friend thing was being made easier since Zach seemed to interfere less and less. Summer hardly ever talked about him anymore, Seth hadn't seen them touch in almost 2 weeks, and Zach was away on vacation right now. Leaving Summer alone on New Year's Eve.
So, being the great friend that he is, Seth invited her over to hang around the Cohen's with Ryan and whomever he decided to bring along. Lindsay and/or Marissa was Seth's guess. But it didn't really matter. Because Summer said, "Okay." Okay. Okay!!!
The movies that Ryan and Lindsay had picked were "interesting," as Marissa had put it. But Seth didn't hesitate to call them boring as Summer pressed her head into his shoulder a little harder. He guessed she was having a dream, since she had fallen asleep 48 minutes earlier.
It kind of sucks to have the girl you're in love with is sleeping innocently right next to you. Or rather, on you. Especially on New Year's Eve, when you should be celebrating. Seth wasn't too heartbroken when Marissa decided to wake Summer up, although he was the one that received an evil death glare and a smack on the arm.
"We thought you would want to ring in the new year with us."
"Right, because there will never, ever be another new year."
"Not this one."
"Shut up."
"Okay."
Summer Roberts and a ball dropping were definitely an awesome way to spend New Year's Eve.
Seth's favorite part was waking up the next morning and feeling Summer right there next to him, curled up right against him. The sun was just rising, and even though he knew they were supposed to just be friends, Seth kissed her softly before closing the small distance between their bodies, falling back into a peaceful sleep.
