Your guardian angel

Nick's POV

Miley smiled at me. Oh, god. That smile, that smile. I can't get it off my mind. After she did that I felt as though my heart was being torn apart by her, and she didn't even know. I had to tell her, I told myself. I had been trying to convince myself to tell her for months now, but I always had chickened out. It was slowly killing me knowing I'd never have the guts to tell her how I really felt about her.

It was pouring outside, and we were inside her house. An awkward silence followed her smiling at me, and when I looked in her eyes, she looked worried. It hurt me so much that she didn't know what I'd do for her… anything. I'd give my life just to make sure she would smile. I'd do anything to know how she felt about me… I'd take a bullet if that'd make her happy.

She didn't know… No one did. Except Kevin, but that's just because he forced me to tell him, and he's sworn to secrecy. I keep thinking what life would be like if she felt the same way… what if she does? I've had many girlfriends before just to try and get her off my mind, but it never works.

Just the image of us together haunts me… To know she'll never know I'd give my life for her… I'll never get over it. She's hugged me before, but I knew it was just as a friend. I've been there for Miley for years… I'd never let her down. I'll be there for Miley forever. Just then, my thoughts took over me.

"Miles?" I asked self consciously. She looked up at me with those gorgeous eyes, and she looked worried… nervous, even.

"Yea, Nick?" she asked, sounding kind scared.

"I need to tell you something I've been keeping locked up for months" I said, my voice shaking.

"You can tell me anything, you know that" Miley said, smiling at me.

"You just have to promise me this won't change our friendship, kay?" I said, I was loosing it… telling her this?

"Nick…just tell me, and I promise" she said, starting to look worried.

"Miles… I-I love you as… more than a friend, and it's okay that you don't feel the same" I said, tears starting to well in my eyes. "Bye, Miley" I said before walking out of the house into the pouring rain, I didn't care if I got soaked… she knew I loved her, and now she'll probably think I'm weird or something.

I began running down the street back to my house when I heard Miley's front door slam open and shut, and I heard small footsteps running through the puddles.

"Nick! Wait! Nick!" Miley screamed behind me, trying to catch up.

I whirled around to face her. She didn't look the same… She was soaked, but she looked so sad… Her face was red from crying, I could tell.

"Nick… I have something to tell you, too" she said, her face suddenly brightening. "If you didn't run away, I could've told you sooner" she said, beaming.

"What is it?" I kind of snarled at her.

"You are more of a doughnut than Oliver" she said, grabbing the collar of my shirt and kissing me.

"I'd never let you down, Miles… I'll always be there for you" I said, grinning widely like an idiot.

"I love you, Miles" I said, hugging her tightly.

"I love you too, Nick" she said, holding me close.
