"Belle, I swear," Gino said, but I raised my hand to shut him up - We were in the middle of training and I don't like talking when I'm training. "Punch the bag Gino, that's your order." I hissed, and he sighed - nodding and quickly punching the bag. I sighed as I held it straight for him, but I didn't know what to do - The clave is sending me back to New York after eight years of being away, I didn't even get to say goodbye. To Jace, Alec or my Parabatai Izzy. Jace is my older brother, two years older than me, he's 21 while I'm 19.
"Okay, that's enough. Tell me what's going on." Gino said, pulling the white tape of off his hands and looking at me with squinted eyes.
"Nothing," I said and Gino cocked a brow.
"Annabelle, I know when you are lying."
"Fine, I'm just not excited to see my old friends - okay?" I snapped.
"Look, I know it's nerve raking to see them again but maybe it's for the best. They need you know more than we do since Valentine turned up." He said and I scoffed, Valentine - the bastard that has tried to kill every single downworlder that I have know.
"Gino, I left everyone without saying goodbye," I said, and he chuckled.
"I think you'll be fine, You're Annabelle Wayland. You can do anything." He said, and I hoped he was right.
The old church looked weird without being deglamourized, but when I ran my stele over my shadowhunter rune it came back into focus and I walked in. My eyes wandered the place until they landed on Izzy who had a platinum blonde wig in her hand, Alec was standing near her with a stiff look on his face and Jace was laughing and I rolled my eyes before I quickly walked to the shaft that was nearby, I needed to find someone that I knew to well and being around Jace, Alec and Izzy was going to cause drama.
I walked to the training room and found Hodge, hitting the bags with a wooden pole "You were always one to do the easy stuff weren't you?" I sniggered and he looked up, his eyes widening. "Belle, your back and you're older." He said and I sniggered again.
"No shit, I was away from seven years." I said, "On the request of the Clave," I said as I saw his eyes narrow.
"Always the claves rules, I wonder why they sent you away." He said and I snorted, shrugging my shoulders. That was the least of my problems, "Do you want to train?" He asked and I nodded, grabbing my stuff from my bag before wrapping my bandages around my hands.
"She's not a mundane Alec," Jace's voice came from the infirmary, and me and Hodge looked at one another - I had used my hearing rune to hear the conversation.
"How do you know that?" Alec's voice asked, and I chuckled, still the Alec I knew. Hesitant and protective over his friends and family.
"Because the seraph blade lit up when she touched it," Jace argued back and I groaned, getting annoyed by this argument and I punched the punching bag full pelt causing it to fly back and hit into Hodge. "Sorry," I muttered and he shock his head - telling me it was fine.
"Look Izzy - Can you?" Jace said and I just carried on listening. "I'm Jace Wayland." He said.
"I'm Uh.." another voice said but was cut off by Jace.
"Clary Fray, we know who you are."
"Am I the only one that finds this unusual?" Alec asked
"You find everything unusual Alec - after my sister left," Jace retorted causing me to stop.
"I have to report this to the Clave,"
"You know what dial it down a notch," Jace said.
"My brother doesn't have a notch, I love you Alec but you have a switch that is always on." Izzy commented causing me to chuckle lightly until Hodge hit me causing a loud hiss to come out of mine and Izzy's mouth.
"Izzy, You okay?" Alec asked.
"I don't know, my parabatai rune just lit up. Belle just got hurt." She said and I rubbed where I got hit.
"Fuck Hodge," I muttered and he chuckled.
"Hey, you know what give me a minute," Said Jace, "Here's a word you've never heard me say: Please." He said.
"What is with you?" Alec asked, "No seriously what is with him?" Alec asked presumably Izzy.
"Walk with me big brother, I'll explain it to you," Izzy said and me and Hodge stopped training as I pulled my white bandages off. Hodge looked at me and sighed, knowing that this was the moment that my old friends would probably realise I was back.
"Hey Hodge," Izzy said as she walked up the stairs to the training room - while my back was turned but I could feel Hodge's gaze until he abruptly started talking to Izzy and Alec. I was looking through my stuff when I cut my hand on my blade, causing Izzy to hiss, "Again, seriously. Belle just hurt herself. Again." She said, holding her hand.
"Wait," Izzy said, narrowing her eyes on me and I could feel it right through my back - nope. I'm guessing she's worked it out. "You little bitch," She muttered, storming over to me and wrapping her arms around me, fast paced that I stumbled back a little before stabilising myself again. "Well, I missed you too." I said, as I tried to stop the bleeding that was coming out of my hand.
Alec stormed off, hurt was evident in his eyes before he left - fucking hell.
