Another Meeting in the Mesh

Aurelie N'Faelin

PART ONE: A True "WTF" Moment

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hello there and welcome to my first sonic series! That first story was a one-shot to get introduced to the basic characters of the Mesh stories. Now we delve into the first Mesh series! R&R, please!

"G'night, you guys!" Xenia waved as she walked up from the basement to her upstairs apartment. It had been at least a week since iNCOGNiTO had come, and things had been rather calm. It didn't take long for iNCOGNiTO to make himself comfortable, but he still got a bit edgy when "MIB" were mentioned. Dirk hadn't returned since that day, and Xenia guessed it was because of Keith's assault. She had just put on a baggy black shirt and some red flannel pajama pants when she heard someone pounding on the door.

"The sign says closed, people." she mumbled as she went down the stairs to the darkened store. As she opened the door, she saw a very familiar-looking green hedgehog in an anarchy t-shirt and baggy jeans that had lime green skulls on the pockets. Next to him was a lavender echidna that looked like she was ready for a renaissance fair. "Hey Keith. God yourself a new girlfriend?"

The green hedgehog gave her an unbelieving look. "What the…NO!" he shook his head. "I saw her on a park bench saying that she was looking for you, so I led her here."

Xenia sighed. "I guess it's another late night for me." She looked over at her new guest. "So… let's go upstairs where we can talk." She looked over at Keith. "How 'bout you start some tea water. Do you like tea?" she asked as she glanced over at her guest.

She nodded. "Tea is fine with me."

"Great! I hate coffee. Always gives me a headache." the three of them went upstairs and Xenia and her guest took a seat on chairs in the living room while Keith split off to the kitchen to get the tea. "So…" Xenia started, "Who exactly are you, and how do you know about me?"

The lavender echidna smiled. "My name is Luanne Renaii, and I'm your older sister."

For a few minutes, the pair sat silently staring at each other until Keith broke the silence. "The water's almost boiled. What type of tea do you want?"

Xenia's head snapped up. "I'd like raspberry green, please."

Luanne nodded. "I'll have what she's having."

As the tea came out, Xenia tried to get the facts straight. "So… you're my older sister… That's weird."

"Why is it weird?" Luanne questioned.

"I never thought I had a sister, really. I had lived here as an only child all my life with my folks… or were my folks really my folks?"

Luanne shook her head. "No, they aren't. The people you've been calling your parents are actually colleagues of our mother that came here from Mercia and raised you while I was there and our eldest sister was sent somewhere else."

Xenia blinked a few times. "Hold on a sec. You're saying I'm from some other country that's on no maps and that I have two sisters? I'm having a hard time believing you…"

"I can understand that this must come as a shock to you." Luanne calmly said as she put a hand on Xenia's shoulder. "It'll probably be easier to explain if I took you there." she pulled a ring out of a small bag on her side. "Let's go!" Then both Xenia and Luanne were gone.

Keith walked in the living room. "Tea's ready, you guys! …umm… where'd you go?" He put the tea down on the table and started sipping on one of the cups. "Guess they didn't really want their tea…"

Author's Note: Yes, I know it's kind of confusing, but It'll clear up in the next chapter, I swear! I love Keith's line at the end! It makes me giggle…
