This is strange...

Fox had always been fond of the rain. He would often cherish the moments of solitude it could bring to him as well as the peaceful way it could numb all of his senses at once. It was something that had been described to him in a thousand different ways but even so, his experience was always different.

There was the the light rain that only appeared in the summer time. This was delicate, almost as if nothing was touching him. The refreshed feeling that came from this rain was a little reminiscent of home, Vacuo, where only the slightest fall occurred in the desert climate. His favourite type though was heavy downpours. These helped him forget as his skin quickly became icy and the thunderous raindrops over took his hearing, like a million bullets hitting the ground around him. It was in these storm like conditions he knew for certain that he would be completely alone for a few hours, as no one but himself would be stupid enough to go outside in such weather.

Until he met Coco.

She had been the one to take his hand on that day of initiation, to pull him out of the rain that was messing with the senses he had left. It was his partner who had sat out with him on many occasions, close her eyes and focus on the rain as he did. It was his team leader that had held onto him on nights that there was no downpour, no escape.

It wasn't until a month after the fall of Beacon Academy that he finally gave up and let every single built up emotion fall from his lips. She had listened, took his scarred hand into hers and placed her soft lips onto his rough ones.

At first it didn't feel real, just another thought that would be soon washed away but then he found himself kissing back and suddenly, for the first time, the ghostly echoes of rain stopped.
