Hi guys! This is my first story so take it easy! But, ratings and reviews are appreciated! I am listening to Brave by Sara bareilles (actually, more like my sis who is in the room is). Also, a lot of people have been writing stories where Percy goes and joins Chaos, so I thought I would try! Also, I love exclamation marks! [Woah, is that really what I said back then? I really have changed. This is SingingSilently three years later. Everything in bold, italics, and brackets is me while I'm going through and editing stuff. I don't want to touch the author notes because I think it's interesting to look back on what I said all those years ago.]
5/9/14: Did a little bit of editing. No biggie.
2/5/16 - Major construction due to me coming back to this three years later.
Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson!
Enjoy!
Percy's Point of View
You know the saying 'What goes up, must come down'?
That perfectly describes what happened to me.
One minute, I'm on top of the world. Gaea is asleep, and it doesn't seem like she will wake up again anytime soon. Annabeth and I have been dating for two years now.
Two years! I can't believe it. Not to mention, it will be our three year anniversary next week. I was ecstatic, and had everything planned out.
But then it all came crumbling down.
It always has to.
I was turned on by a camper named Alex Point. He is a son of Hecate who betrayed us in the Battle of Manhattan. His fatal flaw is pride, which was crushed underfoot after Kronos lost the war. He was pardoned, of course, but he still had some sort of anger inside him and he must have been thinking that there was no better to direct it towards but me.
I learned later that that raw emotion - that pure, unadulterated anger - combined with with what little power Kronos gave him, helped him create illusions. It's something that children of Hecate have been able to do in the past, but for some reason haven't been able to do in the last few decades. I guess it was just connected to their emotions or maybe Kronos unlocked something inside him. I don't know, and at this point it doesn't matter.
The point is - he can bend the mist to a high degree. It's realistic, and it can hold for a good amount of time. If you touch it, however, that's it. Your hand goes right through it and you realize that it isn't real.
With this ability and this hatred, he targeted some of the campers. Did some meaningless tricks and trivial pranks. But no, that wasn't enough for him. He wanted - he needed - to see someone be as wronged as he was. To watch someone suffer as much as he believed he had.
And he chose me.
The worst part was that it took just a few, simple illusions at the right moments to convince the gods and most campers that I had turned on them long ago. Apparently, I had been playing the long con for Gaea, but something went wrong. I was never caught.
The gods were skeptical at first - none more so than dad. It didn't matter though, because in the end Alex and a few others managed to convince them all that I wasn't who I said I was.
Which brings us to today - judgement day.
The same day as Annabeth's and I's anniversary.
The same day I was going to propose.
But instead of kneeling in front of her on the sand of the beach and asking her if she would put up with me forever, I'm watching out of the corner of my eyes at her face. She was crying softly, and Piper was trying to comfort her, but tears were falling down her eyes too. The Seven were all there - for apparently it was customary for the guilty party to face their punishment in front of those they wronged. The Seven represented all of the demigods - both Greek and Roman. All of my friends. My new family.
It doesn't matter anymore.
I closed my eyes. Hopefully I make it to Elysium so I can wait for you, Annabeth. Because I will. I'll wait for you until the end of time.
I love you, Wise Girl.
"Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon." Zeus called, a scowl on his face. I stepped forward so I was facing the counsel in the center of the throne room. I tried to ignore the Seven who would be behind me.
"We have held a vote and you were deemed guilty." Big surprise there. "And, as you are aware, the price for such traitorous actions in time of war is death."
I nodded, silent. I didn't know what to say.
Zeus stood up and grew to full height. He brought out his master bolt. The same one I saved many years ago.
"Do you have any last words?" He asked, leveling it at my chest.
I closed my eyes for a moment, prepared to say no, I didn't, when suddenly the words came to me.
"I devoted my life to you, the Olympians. I fought Kronos, Gaea, giants, titans, and countless monsters. You offered me to become a god with you, but I refused so that demigods wouldn't be ignored. So that minor gods and their kids got a chance. In light of what is happening now, I don't regret that decision. I just want to say that I would never betray you, Olympus, or any demigod.
"But since you truly believe I am a traitor, do what you must."
There was silence for a moment, before my ears popped and I felt electricity surging through my veins.
My last thought before I lost conciousness, was one word.
Well, I guess it was more of a name.
Annabeth.
765 words, not bad for my first chapter. R&R!
An update: 858 words! :)
[That took longer than expected, but oh well. There was a lot to be cleaned up. If you still care, the total was 1,066 words, which seems short to me, but oh well.]
