The Hate Of Dependence
One-shot

Warnings: None

We hate each other. That's just what enemies do.

Hatred stems from rivalry, jealousy, offence and insecurity. Sometimes even unrequited love. But assure you, that's not what this is about.

But ours grows from the most unlikely of causes.

Dependence.

We hate that we depend off each other, and we depend on our hate.

One an Invader, sent to take over and prove his worth.

One an outcast, thought to be insane, desperate to prove he's not.

Both craving the attention they each so deserve. If one were to lose the other, they would die inside. Though not from affection.

It's the empty void that comes after completing a long sought goal, only to find you don't know what to do with yourself anymore. After that comes boredom. After that comes depression. And after that comes pointlessness. Like it or not, if he goes, so does my sanity.

...Then I truly will be insane.

-The Hate Of Dependence-

Invaders need no-one.

At least, they're not supposed to. The existence of one being shouldn't matter to them. And yet...

I wouldn't be the same without the fights. The plotting and having it blow up in my face. The pump of adrenaline when he stops me in the most unexpected of ways. The rage that accompanies it.

Oh, my Tallest would be so disappointed!

But that doesn't seem to matter in these situations. I'm so addicted to being rivalled by someone so (gag!) equally matched. Irkens are supreme! A mere hyo-man shouldn't be able to keep up like this!

I AM ZIM!

But...he has. That filthy worm-baby. How DARE he? How dare he be smarter than those drooling maggots of a species! But without a rival...what would the point be?

We both feed off our (gag! again) dependence of one-another.
