Oneshot requested by my dear friend Rach(el) on tumblr and she liked it enough that she asked me to crosspost it here.

Disclaimer: Not mine.

She stumbles across his blog by accident during a caffeine fueled all-nighter; her stupid boss stuck her with the overnight shift the following day so she's hoping to stay up until mid-morning before she crashes. The music flowing her headphones is mellow and causing her sway side to side as if in a trance as she mindlessly scrolls through her dash before she decides to start searching randomly, after a third refresh leaves her empty handed.

His blog is the top recommended one when she types in astronomy. And, damn, it's the most beautiful thing she's ever seen. All high definition photos of nebulas and black holes and galaxies she's never heard of, constellations with unpronounceable names, and with each one, even the ones he has reblogged, he's added scientific data. There's something about the way he explains the mysteries of the universe that has her sucked in. And before she knows it the alarm on her phone is going off reminded her it's time to sleep.

She quickly follows his blog and, before she can stop herself, she sends him a message - she finds his world beautiful and she wants to be a part of it.

He messages her back hours later.

They're on different coasts. He's four hours behind her. They start talking and they can't figure out how to stop. It starts with messages and fanmail then skype and facebook before they upgrade to texts and phone calls. Her friends think she's insane and what the hell is she doing with a weirdo scientist guy named Larry? And Larry's friends think he's making her up because no way could he ever score a hot babe like Megan.

But Megan thinks Larry is beautiful. And Larry thinks Megan is a piece of the universe that he'd like to puzzle out - so quixotic and confounding in her very essence and he wants, needs, to know what makes her tick.

They stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching Star Trek and Stargate and Firefly and talking. So much talking. And fuck they love each other and they've never even touched.

It turns out that Megan's partner on the force is Larry's TA's brother. And so they vet each other - in a world full of creepers, one can never be too careful.

But then it's Christmas and Charlie's coming out east to visit Don anyway and Larry can get a good deal on a ticket and does she want him there?

She does. She says yes.

And he's on the next flight out, willing and ready to put up with her family for the holidays. Most days are spent holed up in her apartment watching science fiction and black and white films and just talking - Tumblr only touched when Megan has to go to work or Larry's snoozing thanks to jetlag. And goddamn do they touch. They touch constantly. In dirty ways and not. In ways they only dared to speak of in the wee hours of the morning. Trying to fit a lifetime of touches into the three weeks Larry has off from work.

When she drops him off at the airport, she cries. Don has to drive her home from the airport because she can't breathe without hiccuping let alone see well enough to keep the car on the road. He's barely a state away in the sky but her heart already feels like it's being ripped in two.

She files for a transfer out west a month later.

Don follows shortly after when his dad has a heart attack.

Alan Eppes adopts Megan immediately into the fold - Larry's practically another son already as it is. For the first time ever, Megan who "should have been a son" has a family.

All because she clicked on some guy's blog.

She marries that guy two summers later in Alan Eppes' backyard with Don as her "man of honor" and Charlie serving as both best man and ring bearer.

Larry knows that Megan is a mystery of the universe he'll never completely riddle out but dammit if he won't spend the rest of his life trying.
