Prologue: Rogue Meets Angel

The boat was on a fast pace to Rogueport, with the Amethyst Angel, Anise Azeat, on board. In her possession was a mysterious piece of paper showing what looked like a map of the area surrounding Rogueport on it. It seemed as though it was an ordinary piece of paper, but Anise, due to her Rune Angel and XQ experiences, knew things weren't what they seemed at first. What she didn't know was that she would embark on a seemingly dangerous rescue mission, as the X-Nauts had taken the princess hostage.

Upon docking at Rogueport Anise hopped off the boat. She was a beautiful sixteen-year-old girl, with long wine-red hair bearing a number of pink highlights. Also in her hair was a pair of bulbous hair clips, a ribbon on the right side that she had started wearing on the suggestion of her teammate Rico Sakuraba, and a hairband embroidered with flowers on each side identical to XQ teammate Kaelynne Sakuraba. Her outfit consisted of a platinum jacket, a wine-red tube top, teal pants with three different elemental designs on it, white lace-frilled socks, and amethyst purple platform sandals. Once she got about halfway to the main section of the port a blonde-ponytailed Goomba, with a purplish alien-like being on her tail, came into view.

"I don't have this so-called map you're after, you purple moron!" the Goomba yelled.

"Seriously, you said something about it, so spill the - yeah, who'se the -!" Lord Crump, second-in-command of the X-Nauts, had started to say before Anise let him have it with an Ultimate Impact rush. Crump splashed into the water.

"C'mon, Goombella, let's get into the square before he recovers from that rush combo i hit him with. Jump onto my shoulder." Once the Goomba was securely on the offered shoulder Anise jumped so high she cleared the large drop in elevation between the square and the port. Upon entering Rogueport's square Goombella hopped off the redhead's shoulder, and just in time as an elderly Toad with a white mustache walked up.

"Ah, so you're the one XQ sent."

"Yeah, Jet intercepted this map before someone else could get their hands on it." Anise said, pulling out the map. "What's the issue?"

"I was busy refueling my ship when the Princess walked into the main section of Rogueport when my back was turned; when i came to check on her she was gone. Likely got herself kidnapped again."

"She's been kidnapped before?"

"Lots of times. Mostly by Bowser, though i don't think he may have done it this time around. Then again, there are times when she's kidnapped by someone other than Bowser. It's usually Mario, sometimes with his brother Luigi, who comes to her rescue but Jet feared someone might intercept that map before it got to Mario and as such he intercepted it before the enemy could."

"Besides, with my power level where it sits, plus the chance the enemy is someone i'm familiar with, you might need the extra firepower. Not only that, but i can move a lot faster than the average female in the same shoes i'm in, since i trained under the XQ second in command to improve that stat, so i can interfere with the enemy's plans from a much further starting point compared to Mario. Factor in my knowledge of Solid Transparency and i'll be able to go completely unscathed through something that can normally cause mega damage to the normal person. And fortunately i know a technique that allows me to relive certain incidents that normally happened when i was in another dimension; this way i can confirm whether your claim that Bowser isn't her kidnapper is true." With that, Anise started levitating, bringing Goombella (who had gotten back on her shoulder) and Toadsworth (safely enclosed in a Psychic bubble three feet to her right) with her. With a flash of purple light, they vanished.

Upon reappearing (which nobody noticed, as they had technically been rendered invisible for this trip two hours into the past) the trio looked down at Rogueport's square. Basically everything was the same, though there was a shadowy merchant on the western side of the square. Then a blonde girl in a pink dress walked into the square.

"There's the princess." Toadsworth said, pointing to the human blonde.

"For future reference, what's her name?" Anise asked the elderly Toad.

"Peach Toadstool."

'What a wierd name combination. I mean, seriously, who in their right mind would name someone Peach? It's a good thing Rochelle got a much cuter name to go by.' Anise thought to herself. At that moment Peach turned towards the shadowy hooded merchant.

"Something's odd about that merchant." Anise said, pointing out the hooded figure. "Thing is, my powers aren't getting an accurate scan on whoever it may be, the cloak's in the way." Letting the scene unfold further, the levitating, invisible to everyone else, trio watched Peach pink up and somehow open a chest, in which contained the very map now in Anise's possession. The map was then encased in purple light and teleported away.

"Well, hope Jet manages to detect the map before that Team Vexus girl does, because if she got to it first then there'd be major trouble." they heard Peach say, and then a figure with blonde hair containing numerous teal highlights suddenly materialized behind her. Anise recognized her instantly.

"Alpha."

"What's with her eyes?" Goombella asked, noticing the blank expression in Alpha's purple eyes.

"Her eyes are naturally purple, but the blank look is due to an Imperius Curse she's under, thanks to that amulet she's wearing. Unfortunately i don't know who designed it, but i do know it can't be attacked directly as it's defended by a force barrier; i know, i tried destroying it by directly attacking it last fight i got into with her." Anise said. Then Alpha grabbed Peach in front of everybody else in the area, and teleported away.

"Toadsworth, you were right. Bowser isn't her kidnapper this time. And it's a good thing Jet sent me here; he told me Alpha was here and since i know she in fact is now, there's someone who knows her that can foil her plans." And with that, another flash of purple light engulfed the trio and they returned to the present time. Toadsworth decided to remain at the Rogueport Inn while Anise and Goombella worked to save the princess and stop Alpha's scheme, and on the Goomba's suggestion, the two proceeded toward the house of Goombella's University of Goom archaeology teacher, Professor Frankly, Anise successfully Burst Rushing someone making an attempted robbery of her coins. Once inside Anise showed the elderly Goomba professor the map in her possession, getting a completely unexpected response.

"HOKEY SMOKE! This is actually THE Magical Map i've been hearing rumors about!" Frankly had exclaimed excitedly. The trio then entered a Warp Pipe in front of Frankly's house leading to the sewers of Rogueport. Three Goombas (a regular, a Paragoomba, and one of the spiky variant) tried to cut them off, only to be on the recieving end of a Trap Shooter from Anise. After successfully holding off a few more attempted attacks they reached the key target of their investigation on the Map: the Thousand-Year Door. Anise would step onto a pedestal in the center of the room before the ancient Door, which triggered a completely unexpected surprise. A group of lights lit up on the pedestal, and without warning the Magical Map had triggered some sort of radar-like function leading them to a place called the Petal Meadows, where a mysterious star-shaped object that appeared to be made of diamond appeared. After taking out a Blooper with a Blazing Storm attack Anise and Goombella entered a Warp Pipe that led to the first Crystal Star's location.
