This is an A.U.

That's why some of the characters here will probably be somewhat OOC. Basically, this will be a (hopefully massive) collection of oneshots about my redesigned versions of the Sonic characters. I will be taking the original versions of each character and molding them into what I feel they could have been. Also, I love stories about characters interacting with each other. Ships may (will) set sail here, but no OC's although random people in the background may appear but stay unnamed (even if one is my Forces avatar). In any case, I hope you enjoy this, as I certainly will. Please Review. No flames, thanks, if you don't like this story, don't read it, I won't be offended. Also, at the start of each one shot, I will put a track from a Sonic game that you can pull up on YouTube if you want, I personally find that music makes these stories more immersive. Anyways, I'm rambling. The first eight stories will be about who I consider the main game characters. I'll say how I altered them, and give you a quick story starring them. Then we'll move on to the good stuff. Enjoy!

Story I. The hero

Starring: Sonic the Hedgehog

Recommended Music: Sunset Heights from Sonic Forces

Changes to character: I feel that the games made him a bit too perfect, and not...eccentric enough. In this world, he's more impulsive, scatterbrained, tone-deaf, tactless, easily distracted, has issues with short-term memory, and loves taking selfies at inopportune moments. That being said, he's still the nicest guy on the planet, he's not a bad cook, knows many languages, and is much more powerful than his in-game self, being able to go past the speed of light if he wishes. But don't worry, he's still the chili dog eating, attitude-filled hedgie we all know and love. On to the story.

A pair of sneakers hit the street, one, two, one, two. Candy-apple red, with a vertical white stripe down the middle, and with yellow-gold laces, they looked almost brand-new, despite the fact that they had been worn for years.

The tan eyelids of their wearer blinked happily around at the small white houses that dotted the coastline of the seaside town of Apotos, home to one high-speed hedgehog. The evening breeze that had been blowing through his light blue quills picked up speed, blowing his hat right off his head. The crimson wool cap was back on his head in an instant, the pom-pom adorning the top bouncing jauntily to the wearer's footsteps.

Sonic had had a great day. He had gone on an awesome run in Rail Canyon, caught a new movie with Tails, visited Knuckles on Angel Island, hadn't run into Amy, visited with Vanilla and Cream, went on a hike with Rouge, caught part of one of Silver's shows, and was now ready to find somewhere to sleep for the night. The sun's glow was still warm as it disappeared over the horizon, and all was well, except for the nagging feeling that he was forgetting something. He often had this feeling, though, and so it didn't bother him as much as it should have. It couldn't be that important he thought.

Then his phone beeped. Snatching it out from his quills, he looked to see who it was. It was Mighty, Sonic's friend from well before he became a worldwide hero. That's when Sonic remembered that Eggman was going to be attacking Empire City. Tails had found out about this plan a few days ago, and Sonic, as usual, had forgotten.

Until now. Sonic blasted off, heading for the other continent, and trying to forget that he'd have to run across an ocean to get there. If he built up enough momentum, he'd be fine, but if he didn't, well, he didn't want to think about that.

Making it across the water without a hitch, he arrived to find that Eggman had actually been making a bit of progress. Sonic couldn't tell who was fighting him at the moment, but it looked like Mighty was definitely there, if the many smashed robot piles were anything to go by, but he couldn't be the only one holding off this many robots from the city.

"Hey bro, where's Eggo?" dashing up to his friend.

"Good question, I haven't seen the guy" responded the armadillo, smashing through a line of buzz bombers attempting to bring down some smaller buildings "he's been uncharacteristically absent this whole time, I keep expecting to see him laughing his head off, but it's just another EggRobo, not even one of the Heavies".

"That is weird" agreed the speed demon "who's the help? This is way too many robots for you to handle by yourself."

"Silver's around here somewhere, he came over after his show was done, I swear that guy doesn't sleep."

"Being famous does that to ya" said Sonic "However, I got an idea, and I'm gonna use it" he said, blasting off. He wasn't the smartest guy around, but he knew Eggman liked personally supervising his attacks, so this was probably a distraction. Sonic just had to guess where he would be. Fortunately, when you can go from 0 to mach 2.5 in about half a second at will, it doesn't take too long to search most of the planet, and soon the villainous former chemical plant and record company owner was found.

"Heeeey Eggo! Guess who saw through your dumb plan" shouted the exuberant hedgie from the edge of a clearing ringing an old G.U.N. outpost.

"Graah, not you!" groaned the mad doctor "How'd you even know this place existed? This is a top-secret R&D lab!"

"If it's top-secret, Rouge knows all about it, she probably mentioned it in a story about one of her 'daring heists'" the 'hog grinned cheekily, standing on one hand and sticking out his tongue at the fat man.

"She would know about it" muttered Eggman "Oh well, you know the drill!"

A blue robot blasted out of the nearby treeline, a robot resembling Sonic. Metal Sonic, designed to have Sonic's speed and agility, and the ability to take out the hedgehog. However, it wasn't very durable, since it was made out of lightweight material to keep it faster. Sonic jumped back on his feet, ready to fight.

"Actually, let's change this up" grinned the madman. Sonic froze, not sure what to make of that line. Eggman usually kept things the same battle after battle. Was he actually about to show some of his 300 I.Q.?

"What do you mean, doctor?" the robot inquired.

"I mean you're being replaced, fool" yelled the doctor.
On cue, something slammed into the robot, smashing it to pieces, except for the head, which landed neatly into the newcomer's hand. It was another robot Sonic, but much taller, more bulked out, with heavier armor and less of a face then Metal had had. With effortless ease for something so clunky, the new 'bot tossed Metal's head in the air, and kicked it off into the distance, then obliterating it with a well-timed laser blast.

"Meet Mecha Sonic" crowed the doctor "He may not be quite as fast as Metal, but I don't even think your islander friend could take him out easily."

The fact that maybe not even Knuckles could take out Mecha wasn't the most comforting of thoughts, but Sonic launched himself at the 'bot anyways with a quick spin attack.

He bounced right off, the mecha looking completely unaffected. Eggman blasted off into the distance, cackling madly. Sonic decided to give up on the mecha for now and get Eggman but the robot lunged into his path, refusing to be ignored. Sonic, getting impatient with Mecha, began whaling on it. Kick after punch after blow after jab rained down on the robot with alarming speed, the cerulean mecha blocking every one. Sonic tried creating a whirlwind around the 'bot, but was tripped instead, flying into a tree. Mecha grabbed him by the ankle, slammed him into the ground several times and threw the blue blur through several trees. Sonic, however, had suffered much worse, and was on his feet quickly, having devised a new plan. He ran off, the robot following close behind. Sonic snatched his phone out of his quills, hoping he had gotten back into a receptive area of the world. Then he made a call. Come on, come on, pick up he thought impatiently.

"What's up blue?" said a female voice.

"Hey roo, sorry to bother ya, but Eggo's raided some old G.U.N. base, which I'd loved to have stopped, but he's got some new robot that's taking a bit longer to crack than usual. Could you go find out what he took?" he waited for an answer, dodging some spin dashes from Mecha while waiting for her reply.

"Mayyybe. What do I get out of it?" asked Rouge.

"Eggo's got a chaos emerald, you could take that too" suggested the hedgie with a grin, knowing that would convince the jewel-obsessed bat.

"I'll see what I can do" she replied, hanging up. Perfect timing, too, as Mecha was charging up another attack, firing lasers out of its hands and eyes. Sonic made tracks towards Empire City, texting Silver on the way so Mecha wouldn't be too much of a surprise. As usual, he tripped over something while texting, falling on his face.

Mecha Sonic jetted towards him at several hundred miles per hour, ready to run the azure speed demon over, but Sonic leapt from harm's way, homing attacked the robot a few times, and raced off towards the city.

"Hey, what's up?" said a white hedgehog who was suddenly flying beside Sonic.

"Hey Silver! Could you take care of that guy?"

"Anything for you, man" joked the psychic as he concentrated on lifting Mecha off the ground. The robot looked around in confusion, trying to see why he was flying outside of his own power. Then all of a sudden, it stopped moving.

"...why did it do that?" asked Sonic.

"I dunno" replied Silver, letting his hold on robot down briefly. It flew, off seeming to have forgotten what it had been doing earlier.

"Guess Eggman didn't need that distraction anymore" shrugged Silver.

"Speaking of, did the robots leave the city?"

"Yup"

"Oh...cool!" said Sonic, who would rather have fought some himself.

"You wanna get some tacos?" asked Silver.

"Nah, I was gonna take a nap before I came here, see ya!"

With that, the worldwide hero of Mobius raced back to his hometown to catch some Z's.

Well, that was fun!

How do you like my take on Sonic? If the writing isn't too good at first, that's because I'm not used to writing these characters. As I go on, it will hopefully get better. Anyways, I hope you all stick around, this'll be a wild ride. See you later!
