Author's Note: Yes, I honestly don't know what's gotten into me. Here's yet another (slightly AU) Myst story, this time dealing with Christmas in Tomahna. After all, Yeesha would delight in hearing stories about holidays from the "Stranger", I think.

Again, don't own 'em, never will.

Dear Friend,

I am writing with a sense of deepest concern. Yeesha has implicated you in this matter, and so I hope you can shed some light on this confusion.

For the past week, our daughter has been speaking quite cryptically of a visitor that shall come on a specific night during your calendar month of December. He (for she was quite insistent that this visitor shall be male, and quite old) seems to be a peddler of some sort or another that appears on a specific night to give small children gifts. In addition to this strange story, Yeesha informed me that this peddler travels by sledge, pulled by a furry mammal quite uncommon to this geographic area. From her descriptions and sketches this mammal might have been a variety of deer, though Yeesha also insists that this particular deer can fly.

This confusion came about when I found her absconding with three of my thick stockings, intent on nailing them to the hearth. While Yeesha is only five years old, I cannot help but think that this amount of creativity is above and beyond what she might have at this age. After confiscating both nails and stockings from my daughter, I asked if she was playing a game. No, Yeesha insisted, she learned these stories from our dear family friend. And so I ask you, friend: just who is this 'Santa Claus'? Does he pose a threat to our family? As I speak, Yeesha is preoccupied in hanging various baubles and pieces of her mother's jewelry on a cactus she brought indoors (another puzzle). I fear for her sanity, and pray that you hold an explanation for such odd behavior.

Faithfully yours,

Atrus
