AN: My little bro (who I should thank for giving me this idea) was watching Life With Derek on TV while I was trying to figure out why it had been months since I had written anything and I was still suffering from a mad case of writer's block. This little drabble-y thing is the result. I call it: An exercise in arguments. bows

"And so, Jason finally asked Kelsey out!" Lizzie finished her story.
"Wow, Lizzie, I'm impressed," Her mother commented, "You're very skillful in your area of, er, expertise."
Derek snorted, gesturing wildly with his fork. "Expertise? Please. Just because she managed to get some guy to ask some chick out does not make her an expert. Besides, it's not like it'll be long before he dumps her."
"What makes you think that? Just because you're scared of committment doesn't mean every other guy is, too!" Casey glared across the table at her stepbrother.
"Still thinking about Sammy-boy, Case?"
"Why do you care?"
"Because he's my best friend, and it is my duty as your stepbrother to let you know that Sam, being your boyfriend? Not going to happen."
"How can you say that? It's not like you make every single decision for him!"
"Look, I know Sam, okay? He's not a relationship type of guy."
"Maybe he only acts that way because you're pressuring him!" Casey shouted, jumping up from the table and storming out of the room.
Derek simply smirked and leaned back, celebrating his victory.
