Hey, guys! This is going to be my first story that I keep up! I hope you guys enjoy this short story!

-POC : Annabeth

My days were numbered, 31 to be exact. My family was taking a trip to Los Angeles, California the summer before junior year. Some of our relatives lived in the area and Aunt Demeter is letting my family and me stay at her house for the month of August. We lived in San Francisco so the travel was not long but sure as hell was tiring. I have two twin brothers named Bobby and Matthew; they were 4 years old. I love them, but they decided to test my love with the screaming of "Annie!" and the constant smacking of gum (courtesy of Frederick Chase).

I don't want to highlight the bad parts of the drive, so I'll mention the cute boy with sandy blond hair and a scar that smiled at me across the gas station counter. His name tag said Luke. Oh, Luke Last-name-that-I-do-not-know. My father decided to stop off at this particular gas station because of the famous smoothies and I was craving for some mango. I wore some grey shorts and a toothpaste-stained Yosemite t-shirt. Apparently, it was enough to charm Luke.

"Hey there, will this be all?" he greeted.

"Wha- oh no. My dad is getting a few things."

"Hm okay, do you want me to ring this up right now?" I nodded. "I'm assuming by your father's house shoes and your flip-flops that you guys are visiting. Am I right? If so, where are you from?"

"Wow, aren't you observant? I'm actually from San Fran, we are staying here for the month." I responded and added a slight smile.

"Terrific! Maybe I can meet up with you sometime because our conversation is going to be cut short," he grinned.

"Wha..."

"Hey, this will be all. Or is it, Annabeth? Are you sure you don't want something else? Maybe a Snickers or a post card? I found some stunning ones on the rack over there and grabbed some for me but if you want-"

"Dad, I'm okay." I cut him off. I glanced at Luke as he began to ring up the other items on the plastic counter. My dad pulled out the debit card and inserted it into the chip reader. Right as Luke finished, the device dinged and my dad and I were off to the car.
