Nightmares Work Wonders

Yeah, it's another Hayner/Yuffie one-shot. I just can't help it. This is what I do when I'm bored. I think it's pretty cute, and kinda fluffy. Hope you like it!

Yuffie sat straight up in bed, breathing hard and covered in sweat. It took several minutes for her to realize where she was. She was in the guest room at Hayner's house. She was spending the summer in Twilight Town, and tonight was only her first night. It was not widely known, but she did not sleep well in any bed but her own, and what little sleep she got was plagued by nightmares.
The darkness in her room was total and complete. She could barely see anything, and her imagination was running away with her. The dark shape in the corner: Was it a creature crouching, ready to pounce; or the dresser?
After several minutes of sitting scared and shivering, she made up her mind. She leapt out of her bed, raced out the door and straight toward Hayner's room. She didn't bother knocking, but threw open the door and bounded right into Hayner's bed. He woke instantly, letting out a yelp of surprise.
"Yuffie!" He cried, fumbling for his bed-side lamp. "What are you doing?" There was a click, and light flooded the room, revealing Yuffie, sitting in Hayner's bed, looking timid, and Hayner, looking tousled and sleepy.
Yuffie was reluctant to tell Hayner about her bad dream. But as her mind went back to the dream, and she thought of returning to her dark, empty bedroom, she decided it wouldn't be too bad. "I had a nightmare." She whispered, gazing fearfully up at the blonde. She was afraid of being laughed at and sent away.
Hayner rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "You had a nightmare?" He asked, and Yuffie nodded.
It was quiet for a minute. During that time, Yuffie looked away from Hayner. She was used to Leon letting her stay with him if she had a nightmare. Maybe she had been expecting too much by wanting Hayner to do the same.
After a while, Hayner spoke again. "Well, do you… want to stay here tonight?" He spoke hesitantly, running a hand through his tousled hair.
Yuffie smiled gratefully and hugged her blonde friend. Then they both settled down for the night. Almost without thinking, the ninja snuggled up against Hayner, dragging an arm loosely around him, and resting her head on his shoulder.
Hayner stiffened in surprise, but soon relaxed and put his arm around her. Yuffie smiled, and snuggled closer before dropping off to sleep. Aerith was right: The whole 'I had a nightmare' situation really worked wonders.

Yeah… I'm not too pleased with this one… It could be better. It's really just something I wrote when I was bored, and wanted some fluff. But, I figured I might as well put it up and see what people thought. Thanks for reading, and please review! Thankies!
