Weasel's Roulette

Chapter One

Startup

Hebi sighed, looking at the digital clock on her laptop. It was ten minutes to one, better get ready. The girl closed down her laptop, lying on her bed and slipping on her NerveGear. As the clock turned to one o' clock, she closed her eyes and yelled "Link Start!"

A burst of colors confronted her. After confirming her language as Japanese, she was alerted that her beta test data was available, and if she used it, she could keep one item. Hebi selected the avatar, grateful that the name Ichi no Hebi was still selected. Upon shifting through her items, Hebi discovered an item that wasn't too badly nerfed. Her starter curved sword. Also, if she chose this weapon, she wouldn't have to go through the annoyance of using a straight sword.

She selected her curved sword, which read as Starter Curved Sword, and started the game.

At once, Hebi- no, Ichisan now- began running through the town, heading to the first monster field. She passed a blue-haired man with a Great Sword, a cloaked boy, and several, several others. As she entered the field, she was confronted by a boar.

Ichisan unsheathed her sword, bringing the sharp edge down on the boar's head, killing it. A smirk crossed her face. Easy enough.

After a few hours of Ichisan hacking through wolves, she heard a bell donging.

"A forced teleport? How come?" Ichisan mumbled, before being teleported to the Plaza of the Town of Beginnings.

"Whaz goin' on?!" Ichisan shouted, utterly confused.

Suddenly, a warning tile appeared straight above a certain building, and began to spread until the entirety of the sky was covered by these tiles. Just that was somewhat creepy, but it was made creepier by the fact that some sort of substance began to ooze from the tiles, and then, it formed some kind of hanging platform. A faceless, hooded figure appeared, and said something that sent chills down Ichisan's spine.

"Hello, players. I am Kayaba Akihiko, and as of this moment, I alone control this world."

Ichisan gulped, and began attempting to leave. She only half-listened to the explanation, except for the part about if you died in-game, you died in the real world.

Either this guy had some tendencies to confuse reality with a game, or he's really serious about this. Either way, I gotta keep on my toes. Ichisan thought, making her way to the exit for the plaza just as it re-opened.

She didn't even bother with stopping at a shop, she just ran for the fields, ran for the next village. As a boar came at her, with all intent to kill, Ichisan activated a Sword Skill, and critical'd the boar.

Unknown to Ichisan, another figure had been watching her from the shadows. The sight of the black-haired girl made him smirk. She would be well-placed in his game of Weasel's Roulette. And since you died in real life when you died in-game, the stakes would be higher!

Hitsuji Kuribo, better known by his screen-name Kuribo, began to laugh and laugh.
