Chapter one-Somewhere I Belong

Harry ran. It was raining down really hard, his remaining clothes completely soaked. He had lost his glasses a long time ago, and only when a large lightning bolt would strike the ground was he able to see a blurred image of where he was heading. But he kept going, stumbling and sliding on the terrain. His head was spinning, scared and confused. He had been running forever, through fields and forests, looking for anything-or was it something?

He couldn't remember, just the sound of the rain and the taste of his salty tears to remind him to keep going. Harry was exhausted, but afraid of stopping, of seeing those eyes, full of hate and lust. Soft, cold hands, roaming, ripping. That voice, usually calm and dripping with hate, filled with desire-desire to have him, use him, make him tainted. Harry felt himself sob, but really didn't hear it, he just kept running. Unconsciously, he felt guilty, and thought he should go back and make sure his friends were all right. But he couldn't-he was looking for something, that thing that would make him safe. Protected.

{I want to heal I want to feel What I thought was never real I want to let go of the pain I've held so long.}

Harry suddenly cried out, tripping over a rock, and fell. Trying to get up, he reached out, grasping a metal rod. Standing, he felt other rods, and a quick flash of lightning told him it was a gate. Harry opened it, and started running, not caring where he was going, just not going back.

The thing felt closer, and that thought gave him more strength to run. The rain seemed to beat down harder, but Harry somehow knew where he was, turning here, there. Through his blurred vision he found himself at a huge door, and without a second thought, went inside.

{.I want to heal I want to feel Like I'm close to something real.}

His feet met the marbled floor only slightly, his body renewed with a purpose of reaching its destination. He passed many doors, but kept running through the corridors, down flights of stairs.. He was almost there, he could feel the warmth he had been seeking looming ahead of him, beyond the last door. Skidding to a halt, he banged on the door with all his might. He was so close, yet as he stood there he could feel his strength draining fast.

{.I want to find something I've wanted all along.}

He kept beating, rain and tears dripping alike on the floor. Then, on the other side of the door, he heard a lock being undone, and the door swung open.

'Potter, what are you doing here?!'

{.Somewhere I belong.}

Harry sighed in contented relief, finally, as he fainted, falling into the arms of Severus Snape.
