The Whispered Truth
Hermione Granger sat in her poor excuse for an office in the Auror's section of the Ministry of Magic. Paper were scattered around her as she heaved one sigh that no one could top. She couldn't take it anymore. So much work... so much bad things in her life. She needed to get away, but not now. Not when she had just been assigned the case on the aftermath of Voldermort. This could be her ticket to Head of Auror's department. She could finally be in the same position as him... in the same room as him.
"Hermione?" asked Shelly the receptionist.
"Yeah," she sighed still filing papers.
"Mr Potter would like to see you in his office," she replied.
Hermione looked almost instantly. Harry... Harry wanted her? She got up, applied lippy, smoothed down her skirt and strolled casually into his office.
"Erm... Harry? Shelly said you wanted to see me?" she said.
"Yeah, come here..." he said.
She did as instructed.
"Hey 'Mione," he smiled.
She grinned at her Harry, "Hey."
"I was just wondering... well, you know that me and... Ginny and I are getting married..." he explained.
Her heart stopped. Getting married? When was this? She thought that... he... her...
"Erm..." she said her face solemn, "Not really, but carry on."
"Well, could you go and help her with picking out her dress you know. Just since Luna died she doesn't have any friends to go with and I said you would," he said.
She just stared at him. Well, she thought, it is her own fault she has no friends. She isolated herself and cursing everyone in the way of getting Hermione's Harry. She was a prize winning... well...
"Well," protested Hermione.
Harry stared into her dreamy chocolate eyes with the gaze she had dreamed about, "Please?" he asked softly in the voice she had never heard him use.
A desperate voice as if he was reaching out to her. She looked at his bespectacled face, studying the desperate look, the sad glint in his eyes. Did he really want to get married to Ginny?
"Ok," she couldn't resist any longer.
"Thanks," he reached up to hug her in the way he does in her dreams.
"It's ok," she said holding back the tears.
She really empathised with his feelings. She understood him in no way he would ever imagine. In no way anyone else could.
"Thanks I really owe you Hermione," he said as she left the room, "Love you," he said using the words she wanted him to say so carelessly.
She shut the door and whispered, "Love you too."
A/N – Thanks for reading. I know it's only short but I thought I'd post it anyway. Pleeeeeeeeeeease review.
