Prologue: Being Yourself Is Not An Option.

"God has given you one face, and you make yourself another. ~William Shakespeare"

When you're a black rabbit, hiding in a stretch of clean white snow can be difficult. The contrast of colours, the dark amongst the light.

You would almost always be spotted.

The reverse of this situation however, would be the light amongst the dark as you would have guessed.

In most cases this would be considered equally as difficult as the above or even more so.

However, Eva Marie Nott was not in a 'most cases' situation.

Never has been, never will be.

She considered herself able enough to avoid being caught out until she did it on her own terms.

The charade was tiring but vital. The years without the physical presence of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named were the easiest but after her fourth year the act became harder to maintain.

Growing up Eva had realised life wasn't fair.

It wasn't fair that her mother had died, leaving her father a widower and herslef and her twin brother homeless.

It wasn't fair that some wizards considered themselves above others and felt they needed to show it, and it wasn't fair that she had to live surrounded by people with beliefs that she herself did not share.

The Death Eater daughter in a Death Eater society constantly forced to associate with the Death Eater spawn.

She hated it.

Hiding behind this fake persona of herself made life stale and bland.

It was ironic that her name would mean life, when she was barely getting to live her own as she would like.

Indifference became her attitude to most things in the eyes of her peers, and she retreated inside her mind to be herself.

As the years passed, the opportunities to show her true colours grew, until one such time came that she could not ignore.

May 2nd 1998 would be when Eva became alive again.

My stories shall all be sorted during the freedom of the summer holidays!
