A True Hero
The 4 year old turtles were playing in their bedroom. Just then, Splinter entered the room.
"I would like to tell all of you a special bedtime story," Splinter announced.
Mikey, Donny, and Leo gathered on Leo's bed. Raph just stood there and said, "We're too old for bedtime stories."
"This story involves a true hero," Splinter explained. Just then, Raph joined his brothers on Leo's bed.
There was a man who worked as an accountant. After he finished for the day, he went to an orphanage where he did volunteer work like looking after the children.
When he got to the orphanage, he was shocked to see that it was on fire. Children and the adults who worked in the orphanage were hurrying out.
"Everyone out?" the man asked.
"There's a few children inside," the woman who ran the orphanage explained. "The fire department has been called and they're on their way."
The man rushed inside the orphanage. It took him a few seconds to find the children that were still inside. He guided them towards an exit and they got out safely. Just then, the ceiling collapsed and fell on the man, instantly killing him.
Just then, a fire truck arrived and the firefighters headed for the burned down orphanage. They came across the dead body of the man who got the remaining children outside.
"Excuse me, sir?" a little girl asked one of the firemen. "Is the man in there dead?"
"I'm afraid so," the fireman replied regretfully. "I'm very sorry."
"I wanted to thank him for getting my friends and I out."
"Sounds like that man died a hero by saving the lives of others."
Back in the turtles' bedroom, Splinter and the turtles were holding each other. All of them had the floodgates in full force.
Once they all calmed down, Leo asked with curiosity, "Was there a point to this story?"
"I wanted to make all of you realize that being a hero has it's dark side," Splinter explained to the turtles. "Since you seem to think being a hero means having superpowers and never getting harmed, I needed to give a lesson to make you realize that being a hero isn't all it's cracked up to be."
"Can anyone be a hero?" Mikey asked.
"I believe that can if they work at it," Splinter replied. "I consider myself a hero since I take care of the four of you."
Splinter and the turtles released each other and the turtles got into bed. Splinter kissed each turtle on the forehead while tucking them in. Then Splinter told the turtles that he loved them and they responded that they loved him, too. After leaving the room, the turtles fell asleep.
The End
