The celebration lasted well into the night. Sarah spent the hours after her victory playing games of Scrabble and charades with her friends. But as the night drew on, the events of the day began to take its toll on her. Hoggle, Sir Didymus, and Ludo started ushering everyone back out of Sarah's room. Each gave her a big hug on the way out, promising to talk again the next day. Sarah waved goodbye, fighting the fatigue that threatened to overwhelm her.

As quiet settled on her bedroom, Sarah picked up some festive streamers that had fallen to the floor and re-stacked a few books that had been dislodged by curious faeries.

She sluggishly changed into her pyjamas and fell into bed, pulling the covers up to her chin. Now that Toby was safe she could rest easy, knowing he was sleeping quietly in the other room. As her eyes drifted closed, she wondered what Jareth was doing. He was the only one who hadn't made an appearance that evening. She hoped they could be friends, eventually. He hadn't seemed angry, only a bit sad at the end.

A tall figure leaned lazily against a stone pillar. His dark leather outfit blending into the shadows. Enticing mismatched eyes glittered dangerously in the darkness and a feral smile twisted up cruelly. A crystal spun idly from fingertip to fingertip.

The familiar figure of Sarah, now fast asleep, was inside. He spun it a final time before gently placing the crystal in a niche along the wall. A wall filled with hundreds of similar crystals. Each with a child inside.

He always gave them exactly what they wanted.
