McGonagall's Study Hall

McGonagall had decided that she needed to make sure her Gryffindors did at least marginally well during their exams and had decided to host a study hall in the Great Hall. The other houses were invited to join of course but all of her Gryffindors were expected to be there.

McGonagall had told them very strictly that they were to be there and that she was forgoing a lot of paperwork to hold the study hall.

Hermione had obviously taken the opportunity to study as much as possible while everything was silent. Harry and Ron did not really expect any different but it was incredibly boring.

McGonagall had as good as locked the Great Hall so no one could go out and students could only come into the Great Hall. The only sound was the fluttering pages as people exhaled or turned the page of their textbooks.

As expected almost every single Ravenclaw was present in the study hall. It was a mystery why the Ravenclaws were even attending the study hall. They probably already knew the entire syllabus off by heart already. Hermione had an excuse because it was compulsory for Gryffindors.

The candles still adorned the walls of the hall despite the fact that it was still mid-afternoon and the sun was shining brightly. Ron almost wished that there was a window or even a balcony that he could stare out of. These old stone walls were boring, their origins from a time long ago from the times of the Four Founders.

The flickering candle light almost made the wood of the rafters look like they were made of white yew when they caught the light just right.

Ron was incredibly bored by now. Harry had long since opened his textbook and begun to read from utter boredom but Ron knew that if he read in this mood he would fall asleep and then have McGonagall on his head for wasting her time.

It wasn't like he had asked her to hold the study hall anyway. She should have just done her paperwork and left them to study as they wished.
