I do not own Shugo Chara!, but I am the one who wrote all the poetry included in this fic.
(I have a small stock of random poetry, but recently I've started associating them with characters or events in SC!, so I started this.)

Hoshina Utau

Elitism

There is darkness before me,
And darkness behind.
People see through the shadows
Into the light,
Where I stand,
Alone.

A beacon of hope,
A promise of answers
To their million questions.
I show the way,
Always in front,
Alone.

Utau loved to sing. She had done so ever since she'd learnt to talk, and came in touch with music. She loved the compliments she had received, singing at various parties and in school; she loved the attention. She had always wanted to be a singer.

And here she was, looking forlornly into a mirror in preparation for another night on stage, and telling her manager, "That's not the reason I wanted to sing."

Sometimes she regretted it; not living a calm, ordinary life like most people, but instead opting for a life as a star. Sometimes she resented having to please all those unrecognisable faces crowding around her, just for the company she was signed to. Sometimes she hated Easter for forcing her to perform for a purpose other than her own. She would think wistfully back to her first performances, when she had been electrified with nervousness and excitement.

Other times, she was happy to perform, singing her heart out, sharing music with her millions of admirers. Those were the times when everything seemed perfect again, when she would forget her loneliness in the spotlight and pour her emotions into each word of her own songs. Those were the times when nothing was important, except the music and her love for singing.
