What's in a name?

Captain jack Harkness never understood the concept of love. But he defiantly understood the concept lust. He loved the feel of flesh, the sound of moans and the smell of sweat. He was a traveller, a conman, a heart breaker.

Then he met two strangers. One was bald, with bright blue eyes and huge ears. The other was a delicate blond beauty with a beautiful name to match. The second stranger was a rose.

He loved them dearly, snogged them both, died for them. In return he was brought back and abanded. Lucky he escaped. But spent over 150 years of hell never dying.

He made a team to defend, Owen, the lovable jackass, Tosh, the sweet genius, Ianto, his lover and the tea boy every one depends on and Suzie the silent one the good one the best of the bunch. But something was missing. There was a mix of the doctor and jack in that team, but not a trace of Rose. In reality that's what Torchwood needed.

Suzie went mad in the end. Jack wasn't effected by the lose; he thought he would but he wasn't. It was because of Gwen.

She was different. A beauty but different. Her hair was dark, skin was pale. She cared about the people. She was the Rose Tyler that jack was looking for. Like Rose, Gwen had an idiot of a boyfriend. Rhys was a plonker in so many ways he tried to stop Gwen. He didn't work for Mickey it won't work for Rhys.

When Gwen kissed jack his lips tingled. That never happened not with Ianto or the doctor or many men/women he had and defiantly not with Rose. After a while, jack decided Rose Tyler was a red rose, passionate and intriguing. Gwen however was a yellow rose, overlooked but never the less beautiful.

Jack left the team when the doctor came to Cardiff. He found the truth and he learnt how Rose was on the list. He met Martha who he liked but was not a Rose or a Gwen. She was pretty but didn't have any essence.

She was jealous of Rose and thought she was better than her. Jack noted that Martha was most likely to be compared to a daisy, pretty but not as special.

Jack came back to the team. He found himself ignoring Ianto, Tosh and Owen. He had only eyes for Gwen. She stood there in a yellow dress.

"I was at a tea party with Rhys when the gang called me" she explained.

Jack was used to her in dark colours. But the dress flattered her figure. The colour made her look more beautiful. He hugged her. As he did he took a deep breath. She smelled like….like a sweet. An old quote came to him. What's in a name a rose by any other name will still smell as sweet.

Jack pulled back and kissed her. At that point jack learned love. He loved his team like a family, the doctor was a brother and rose was a sister. Owen, Ianto and Tosh were siblings as well. Occasionally the children though.

He didn't love Gwen. He was in love with her.
