Chapter 1: Oasis

In a land unseen by many shinobi, a great beast let out a tiresome sigh. Bright green eyes, slit down the middle with an ebony pupil, glinted with boredom. She'd had centuries to think of her own misgivings, and when she thought back to that day now, she realized it didn't even phase her. The fact that she was never allowed to make another contract was of little consequence to the bright red, white, and black cougar. Who wanted to be tied down to a silly human in the first place? However, she had grown tired of this constant nagging boredom that she felt in her sequestered solitude. She stood from her spot on the grass, and slinked effortlessly into the nearby brush. It seemed like a little diversion to the world of shinobi was in order.

It had been ages since she'd visited this particular place, the gates that led from their world into that of the shinobi. Well, if one could call it a gate at all. Before her stood a massive pond, the waters rippling in an unseen wind. With an expert show of chakra control, the beast padded out on the surface of the water. If they where attempting to prevent her contract with a shinobi, they had obviously not though she was capable of going to the land of shinobi herself. Damn them all for always underestimating her. She sank down into the pond without much effort, holding her breath until the surface broke once more. She peered out cautiously from the water now, the only other sign of life nearby was a young woman watering a camel at this oasis in the middle of a barren stretch of sand. The cougar now swam to the opposite shore, staying out of sight of the woman. The cat's mind turned, and she thought up something that might prove a little entertaining.

Abandoning her previous act of stealth she lept out from the bushes, loosing a ferocious roar from between her two saber-like fangs. The woman screamed, and her camel quickly turned on its heels and ran away leaving the woman stranded. Her eyes where wide with shock, and she stumbled backwards as the cougar drew slowly closer, green eyes glinting with malicious intent.

"Wh-what do you want?", stuttered the unamed women, she was obviously going to have a heart attack if she didn't calm down.
Making a conscious effort to appear as terrifying as possible, the cougar simply uttered one word.

"Blood."

And that was all it took to make the woman faint.

The cougar gathered her chakra now, and in a short, powerful burst, had changed her form to that of a stikingly beautiful woman. Long auburn hair cascaded down her shoulders, a thick fringe of bangs falling down both sides of a soft, but angular, face. A complexion as pale as fine porcelain completed the image. In her new, and naked, form she walked to the woman and began undressing her. She knew this woman belonged to the village of Sand, undoubtedly a citizen. After dressing in the odd course fabric, and tying it about her, she sent off on the path for Sand. What she would do once she got there however, was a mystery to even herself.
