Fortitude is the twentieth theme of my 100 Themes Challenge~
This one is about NADA! my collaboration manga with Nischi. It;s set from Minatsu's point of view, in the form of a letter to the headmaster of her school.
Enjoy!
fortitude (noun) —strength of mind that enables one to endure adversity with courage
adversity (noun) —a state of misfortune or affliction "debt-ridden farmers struggling with adversity"
courage (noun) —a quality of spirit that enables you to face danger or pain without showing fear
Dear sir,
Over the years I've grown to respect and follow my own ideals, wherever they may take me and through whatever hardships and trouble they would cause. To date I have been more than overly successful. I mean, look at me; leader of a school club, living alone, working and earning my own living, receiving polished grades in my art studies.
… In fact it's all gone way better than I ever originally imagined. My fortitude against those who frowned upon my rebelling has benefitted me in suprising ways. More than any of the above, I have something I never had before.
I… I have friends.
Friends.
Mallow had Ellen, the girl who moved away. She was never alone- not for a second because she found people along the way. Mikado was always attracting attention to herself, so she even had her own possé and probably still does. Little is known about Marsha, only Mikado can intepret what her 'Gnbm's mean at the best of times, but by the way she doesn't shy away from our company and is obsessed with tea tells me she had an undoubtable social background and even the odd friend or two.
I never had anyone until I met these guys. They were just pawns at first. Just people to dispose of at my disgresion. But then we actually started interacting- talking, reminesing, laughing.
Then we were colleuges.
We worked together to get the necessary jobs done and they were no longer just 'the other girls' in detention. They shared my same unique lust for rebellion. But now… That seems too absurd, too far fetched for me now. Because Marsha and Mallow and Mikado are all too close to my heart now to be simply considered 'colleuges'.
That's stupid.
I'm stupid.
Stupid Minatsu who used to have no friends. Who died her hair and created a tiny army with huge hopes. I'm going to change our smiles into sparkles and join these schools. Just you wait. When you see the four of us marching the corridors, you'll soon see. You'll be as blind as I've been these first few months. We just look like mismatched strangers, but we all coincide. And we're all friends.
Yours sincerely, Minatsu, NADA! Club Leader.
[NADA!]
