The Call

"Are you coming home?"

"Jax?"

"It's a simple question babe, are you coming home?"

"It's not a simple answer."

"ARE YOU COMING HOME?

"No" she whispered.

"Then we have nothing else to say to each other."

"That's not true Jax, I'm so close to finishing."

"I don't care …if your not coming home then thanks for a trip down memory lane."

"Jackson, you don't understand I'm…Pregnant."

The last word was uttered as the line went dead. Had he heard her? She needed to make sure he knew. She owed him that. It didn't matter what he said or how he reacted…she was having this baby. She quickly phoned him back. He clicked the phone on and she heard him fooling around with someone. She heard his heavy breath and pleaded with him to pick up the phone. By the time she heard the door close she was screaming at him to pick up the phone. She knew he was in his dorm room now and what he would do. He could be so unbelievably cruel. She screamed into the phone

"YOU'LL REGRET THIS JACKSON. THIS IS A MOMENT YOU CAN NEVER TAKE BACK."

She heard the rip of the foil and cried out loud before she hung up the phone.

She couldn't believe this was the same man who had immediately flown to her side after 7 years apart to hold her hand while the father they both hated left this world. It had been so easy to fall back into Jackson's arms again and again. How could one person have so many faces. How could he not understand she could love him and still need to finish this. She was so close. One more year and she's have her MD. If she quit now what good would 7 years apart be? Is it really just me he shows all those faces to? Her stomach see sawed and she ran her hands over her peanut.

"Looks like it's just you and me kid!"
