Tell Me Why

The Boy Who Lived met a friend just the other day

On the Hogwarts Express to school

Between coaches four and six

But he came home with tear-filled eyes

And he said to me "Mommy, Hermione lies"

Well I just brushed it off at first

'Cause I didn't know how much my little boy'd been hurt

Or the things he had seen

I wasn't ready when I said "You can tell me"

And he said

Hermione lies to the classroom

Hermione lies everyday at school

Hermione lies to the professor

As she tries to cover every bruise

My boy laid his head down that night to go to sleep

As I stepped out the room I heard him say

A prayer so soft and sweet

"God bless my mom and my dad

And my new friend Hermione, I know she needs you bad"

Because Hermione lies to the classroom

Hermione lies everyday at school

Hermione lies to the professor

As she tries to cover every bruise

I had the worst night of sleep in years

As I tried to think of a way to calm his fears

I knew just what it was I had to do

But when we got to the Ministry on Monday I heard the news

My little boy asked me why everybody looked so sad

The lump in my throat grew bigger

With every question that he asked

Until I felt the tears run down my face

And I told him that Hermione wouldn't be at school today

'Cause she doesn't lie in the classroom

She doesn't lie anymore at school

Hermione lies with Jesus

Because there's nothin' anyone would do

Tears filled my eyes

When my little boy asked me why

Hermione lied

"Daddy tell me why!"

Hermione lies

A/N: Every day in the United States, an average of five children die every day from severe abuse; that's roughly 20 deaths a week, 150 a month, 1,825 a year, or 18,250 children who die of abuse every ten years.

This was for anybody ever abused emotionally, sexually, physically, or was neglected. This was for everyone who ever died of abuse, committed suicide because of being abused, or knew someone who died of abuse. It's for everyone who's ever dealt with the heartbreaking situation of dealing with an abused child. Lastly but certainly not least, this story was for all the teachers, daycare workers, coaches, other mandatory reporters, and any awesome person who's ever had the courage to stand up and say "this is wrong" and turned in an abusive person. Most of all, this is dedicated to Jenny "Granger" and Erin Jensen, two people who helped me. Thanks a million to each and every one of you guys, God bless you!
