You're Leaving Her... Alone

A/N: Uhh... what can I say? I like human!Jack and Pitch. The dramatic irony of their interactions is too much for me to resist. But seriously, with Jack and Pitch being my favourite characters, you guys are gonna have to prepare yourselves for tonnes of shit like this.

~~::.::~~

It's freezing cold. It's dark. You're about to die. But that's not what scares you, is it Jack?

It's that you'll be leaving her alone.

Jack tried to kick again with his numb limbs, but all that happened was a weak flail, a barely-there spasm of dying muscles. He'd never learned to swim; half the year the lake was frozen over, the other half there was no time, and the water so dirty no-one wanted to swim in it anyway. His struggles had been desperate, but futile, and now he was slowly sinking. He could faintly see the light coming through the hole he'd fallen through, but it seemed much too far away.

Who'll look after her when you're gone? Who'll teach her how to skate? Who'll tell her stories about the beautiful little fairy who comes to collect her teeth, or the jolly old man who leaves presents at Christmas?

He tried to kick again, but this time his legs barely even moved. He could feel his chest burning, aching, wanting desperately to take a new breath. He searched the surface for any sign of his sister. He almost thought he could hear her screaming for him. He needed to get back to her, reassure her everything was alright; it was just Jack playing tricks, of course he wasn't going to drown, hadn't he promised he'd never leave her?

Who'll be there to tell her the boogeyman can't hurt her if he doesn't scare her?

The last of his breath left his lungs, and freezing water replaced it. No matter how much he coughed as his body tried to expel it, more just rushed in. There was no air to be found, and the darkness surrounding him closed in quickly, tunnelling his vision. He thought for a moment he saw a flash of golden eyes that had almost been forgotten, and the last thing he saw was the dim light of the sun filtering in through the ice.

I'm so sorry, Pipsqueak...

No-one. She's alone, Jack. You've left her alone.

A/N: I feel that Jack's greatest fear as a human was letting down his sister; breaking a promise to her, letting any sort of harm befall her, not being there for her. Jack would have been a dedicated and wonderful older brother. So obviously, as he's dying, Pitch is going to play on that: 'you're leaving her, you're making her hurt, you've broken your promises'.

I was going to conclude this with the opening lines of the film but didn't think it quite made sense. But oh well. More drabbles for you~.

You may be getting a multichapter fic soon, though I can't promise it'll be extremely long. I've planned out titles and basic outlines for 9 chapters, and written the first two, which are both just about 1,500+ words each, and I'm halfway with the third. Presuming they all follow that rough pattern, that's about 13,500 words, which isn't really much. But hey, hopefully you guys will like that if I get round to posting it ever.

That's all from me for now, ciao!
