"Rose Tyler, have I ever told you about the time I crashed onto one of Saturn's rings and met up with a man who had three hearts instead of just two?"

He playfully sat down on the edge of the TARDIS door with her, dangling his legs into the open space below them. They had been hovering for a few hours, taking time off from saving the universe and enjoying each other's company.

She giggled, a childish sound that made his hearts beat a little faster, and shook her head.
"Don't you mean one heart, Doctor?" she asked playfully.

She looked over at him, his face contorting into confusion and realizing that two hearts was indeed not normal for his Earthly girl.

"I suppose you're right, Rose, as always," he sighed.

She laid her head on his shoulder, lacing her hand with his and resting the pair on her thigh. She loved travelling with him. She loved his way of speaking-never boring, always full of eagerness. 900 years of living and you'd think you'd begin to speak with a rusty pitch, like you've seen everything there is to see. Not him. He spoke with fluidity and confusion at the same time. Excitement and fear. Life and death knocking at his doorstep in time, threatening him

but never driving him to the edge. That was her favorite part-the way his words flowed

out like adventures writing themselves from the brain of one man with two hearts and

innumerable lives. She could taste the curiosity on his lips when they kissed and his need for more. She could hear his exhilaration as he slid around the console of his precious machine, flicking switches and slamming on levers she'd never understand. She loved to watch him at work, glasses falling down his nose a bit, his expressive face changing as their latest journey unfolded. She would stand off to the side on the railings, her single heart gaining speed with the promise of new stories and more time with him. She had never admitted it, but she had loved him from the start. The first time he grabbed her hand, she knew that she never wanted to hold anyone else's. He could, and had, dragged her from hell and back and she followed him every step of the way. She remembered every kiss, every valiant moment they had celebrated together. They had saved so many lives, but she'd never admit how he had saved hers.

She loved watching the stars with him on calm nights like this one, her tea in one hand, his hand in the other, her mind re-watching all of their favorite moments in her head. He was like nobody she had ever met, and nobody she ever would. She knew it was her destiny to be with him and that made her smile.

"What's that beautiful grin coming out of hiding for?" he joked softly.

She lifted her head to look at him.

"I think we're meant to be," she whispered back.

He lifted a hand to stroke her cheek softly as her eyes closed in melancholy joy at the touch.

"Rose Tyler, I couldn't agree more," he said, a smile breaking across his lips. He kissed her gently on the lips, and leaned their foreheads together.

Rose Tyler had never been sure about anything in her life. Not until she'd met her Doctor. And suddenly, she was sure that her entire life had led up to this moment, and she smiled again. She was exactly where she was supposed to be.
