SharpWing/Toothless' POV
I never really understood why I was the only one of my species. Or how I was. I've heard stories of back when there was hundreds of my kind. Maybe they were all killed by those bastard Vikings. Or maybe they just left, to a safer place away from here. Why would they leave me behind, then? Whatever the case, I'm here, and the only one of my kind.
The one and only Night Fury, SharpWing.
Sometimes I wish I wasn't the only Night Fury though. The other dragon species tend to leave me out, because apparently there's an unspoken rule to not hang out with Night Furies, since they tend to take leadership often. All that I do right now is clean up after the hatchlings. Which is hard work, considering there are hundreds of them.
"SharpWing! The hatchlings' area of the nest hasn't been cleaned out yet! When did you plan on doing that?" RageFire yelled at me. RageFire is the king of the nest. "Oh, don't be so hard on him." DreamGlider, RageFire's mate, and the nest's queen, said. I sighed and headed towards the hatchlings' area. "I'm doing it now, RageFire. I apologize for not doing it earlier." I said, watching the ground as I walked. "It's about damn time." I heard RageFire mutter. I jumped up and flew the rest of the way to the hatchlings' area.
Once I had arrived, I landed and walked over to a tree. I grabbed a branch in my teeth and pulled at it until it came off the trunk.
I then used it as a broom, sweeping the loose dirt and everything else on the floor into a pile over to a small hole. Using the branch, I swept the pile into the hole, and watched it all slide down. I dropped the branch down the hole as well then took a jump and flew back towards my cave. It's a small cave, right outside the nest. And when I say small, I mean small. I have barely enough room to spread out my wings inside, which isn't the most comfortable, but it'll do for now.
I landed right outside my cave and looked out on the ocean. The sun was setting, and making the water and sky very pink and orange. I smiled to myself and went inside my cave. My home.
My cave is the only place where I'm not being yelled at constantly. Where I can have a little peace and quiet. Away from RageFire, and his constant orders. Away from the loud, obnoxious hatchlings, and away from the dragons who criticize me for being me. I walk back out of my cave and sit on the edge of the cliff. The sun was now fully set and I looked up to see millions of sparkling stars.
I see a falling star, and I make a wish.
"Please let me have a friend. Someone who understands…"
