Title: Sad, But True

Author: The Moof

Character/s: Kyoya and Tamaki

Word Count: 550

Rating: T

Summary: Tamaki has a new understanding of his friend Kyoya and it isn't a pleasant one.

Notes: This was inspired by Metallica's song Sad, But True which fits Tamaki's and Kyoya's relationship with each other in an odd sort of way. As for the 1,000 yen whore thingy, 1,000 yen (1,002.51 yen technically) is the same as $10.00 in US dollars, hence the phrase "like a ten dollar whore." Also, what Tamaki read in Kyoya's notebook, well I have really no clue. But all I can figure it wasn't pretty so to speak, especially when Kyoya catches Tamaki reading it.

Disclaimer: I don't any of the characters from Ouran High School Host Club, they are all owned by Bisco Hatori.

'How could he used the club… me… like that?' was the first words that came to the mind of one Tamaki Suoh as he saw, whom he believed less than a few minutes ago, his best friend leave the room. He knew Kyoya Ohtori had his dark side and Tamaki was aware of the fact that Kyoya only did things that would benefit him, either financially or business wise. But this time, this time was totally different.

Tamaki felt used and oddly, in an emotional and psychological sense, very dirty. Like a cheap one-thousand yen whore. How could his best friend manipulate him so; force him in such a quiet and subtle manner that no one knew what he was really up to till it was too damn late. Kyoya used him and the Host Club as scapegoats to do is dirty work instead of him taking responsibility for his own dark deeds. No wonder it seemed it was him and or the twins that got blamed and in the end Tamami always felt this weird unnerving shame because of it.

Looking back on his friendship with Kyoya, it looked like Kyoya used his dream of making girls feel loved and cared for and turned it into some bizarre twisted lie that only Kyoya would enjoy; while Kyoya reaped the real rewards as he and the rest the club were given small scraps of rewards in the form of shiny doodads and colorful trinkets to keep them in line with the infamous Shadow King. What Tamaki and the others only saw the mask that was Kyoya Ohtori was whatever believable alibis and lies that the Shadow King told him and the rest the Host Club that everything was alright and there was nothing to worry about.

"We were his shelter that fucking basterd hid behind! And while we went on with our lives his eyes always saw everything we did; while he in turn pulled the stings of the club an its' members like a damn puppet master!" Tamaki said to himself with spite in his voice as he walked up to the window to see Kyoya waiting for his ride home.

"He used the club as a cover and used us as a shelter while he did those despicable things to us… to me!!! We paid the price for his cold, calculated ploys and cruelty while Kyoya lead us all astray like mice being seduced by the Pied Piper of Hamlin. He was my life and friend; and then he turns around and does this bullshit to me. All Kyoya has to me is pain and hate now. And in the end of it all it seems that the Shadow King no longer cares."

As he saw Kyoya get into his family's Roles Royse and drive off to who knew where, Tamaki now felt hurt and trapped. There isn't any way to make Kyoya leave the club without the dreaded Shadow King doing something vicious and spiteful in return. For Tamaki Suoh, it felt like the evil Shadow King was always there, whether or not Kyoya was physically there or not. Deep down Tamaki knew that if only Kyoya didn't catch him looking into his damn notebook that he wouldn't be in the situation that he was in now.
