Rage Against The Dying Of The Light

He'd known when it happened, the very moment. Universes apart, the Void seperating them and still he'd known.

i could hear you fall,
i could feel your body through the floor,
And all I see is the red of your blood for the first time
i feel the heat rise up, from your shape in the cold light

He'd seen the entire thing happening as if he was right there with her. He could feel the bullet piercing through her flesh, forcing it's way through her heart, feel what she felt as she fell down on the cold concrete in that dark alley. There'd been so much blood. He'd been able to feel it leaving her, her body growing cold.

And as he saw her die, felt her die, he'd screamed, cried ,begged for a chance to save her. But no-one answered and he was in another universe. No way to stop it all from happening, no way to save her.

i would give my life to keep you safe, for a lifetime,
i would give my life to keep you safe, for a lifetime,
i would give my life to keep you safe, for a lifetime,

He'd tried desperately to find a way to change what was. He'd gladly die the most painful death if it meant that his Rose was safe. In fact, he'd done just that in the past. But nothing worked and eventually he had to face the fact that the woman he loved was gone, forever.

He had to move on, live on. Forever.

still i hear you cry terrified for the first time, first time

Her face still haunted him. That look in her eyes as she realised that this was the end still gave him nightmares. Every night he still woke up to hear her terrified scream in his head. And every night that heartbreaking realisation hits him.

She's gone.
