The Abby wall stretched out far above Heero as he stood in its shadow. The desolate rain falling like specks of the innocent blood he had shed on his cheeks. He didn't know why he was there but he felt he should go. Fixing his trench coat and draping it farther over his shoulders he walked inside gazing around at the marvel of the lords church that stood before him. Its stained glass windows built into the red brick walls, and copper plaques showing Jesus' death seemed almost comforting as he walked up to the front of the church and stood before a large cross. Looking back at the blood trail he left behind, his eyes barely able to see the pain that he had left in the crimson puddles, standing there he felt almost cleansed of every thing that he had done wrong. But yet there was that deep feeling he had, the one deep in his heart that made him shiver and feel cold. It was the feeling of his hate for mankind that he had had before. He didn't want to hate anybody, but they had done wrong to him, giving him a reason. Would God understand that? Would there be forgiveness for the Gundam pilot who before had no remorse or cared not for his own life let alone someone else's. But once he thought about he did care for at least four people: Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei. His friends. Tears fell down his cheeks as he sunk to his knees, his coat falling like devil wings behind him as it too collapsed in a heap to the ground. He realized that no matter how he tried he could not escape what he had done, who he had killed, the lives he had taken.
For a few minutes he cried his body feeling numb as it died around him. A noise made him look back as the large church doors opened and a dark figure walked in, stopped and looked at Heero sort of surprised, then walked over to a pew and sat down, his braid letting gravity take control. "Figured you'd be here." He replied Grimly.
"Duo. I…" Heero began between sobs. "I…shot myself…"
Duo wasn't surprised, but he was concerned. "Oh, Heero buddy I knew it would happen sooner or later. But that doesn't change the fact that you're my friend."
Heero seemed to smile through his tears. "Duo…If we're going to go to hell why not at least say hello?" Heero replied gesturing weakly towards the cross upon which Jesus hung.
"Seems right buddy." Duo replied as they both bowed their heads and prayed silently for the lord's forgiveness over their lives, explaining how the doctors had trained them and ruined their innocence with the blood and carnage of battle. Finally Duo spoke up as they finished. "Heero, lemme see your gun."
"Alright Duo.." He replied as he pulled it out of his coat pocket, handing it to Duo gently. Duo looked at the weapon then at Heero as he fell forward dead to the church floor. Then with tears in his eyes Duo loaded the gun then held it to his head.
The gunshot was the last thing that was heard in the church that day.
