The world was burning, God had left, and the angels of Heaven were at war with their most beloved brother. Granted, Michael had thrown Lucifer into the cage, but there still many of Lucifer's lieutenants and minions left to destroy. One angel in particular stood just inside the gates, overlooking that vast expanse of stars and light.
The angel went by the name of Arial, lord over animals, nature, and the elements. She wept over the destruction of the mortal world, and felt a seething anger towards her golden brother for his betrayal. Despite the fact that her anger was pointed at Lucifer, it was not actually him she blamed for current events. And that was the problem, for the person who Arial, truly blamed for this horrible war, Gabrial's disappearances, Aneal's fall from grace, and all the dead brothers and sisters, was God himself.
There was a time that she obeyed her father's every wish and command, as every good angel did. But that time had passed. God had left, and none but Joshua still talked to him. Michael and Raphael were playing a game of push and tug, to see who would oversee the running of Heaven. Currently, Michael was in charge, as he was the eldest, but Raphael was slowly but surely gaining more power.
It was for this reason the Ariel was where she was now. She knew it was her duty as a soldier of Heaven to stay and continue to fight the good fight, but she was tired. She had grown accustomed to watching the lives of humans, their puny hopes and wishes. Their daily fight for survival and finding a mate. It was ridiculous, all of it. And if this was true, why was she know considering falling to become one of them.
As she stood there, amongst the clouds and stars, the totality of Ariel's being made her description for her. Taking her blade, Ariel drove it into her chest, carving out her grace. Through the fog of pain that was now overwhelming her senses, pain as she had never felt before, Arial heard the cries of anguish from her brothers and sisters, and they flew to intercept her betrayal.
Unfortunately for them, they reached their sister too late. Arial swayed dangerously over the Heavenly cliff, before slipping over the edge. The heartbroken cries of angels mixed with her own cries of pain as Ariel speed towards Earth. She began to pass out as her wings burned off. Her grace slipped from her hands, landing Ariel knew not where.
What was left of the soul of the angel the once was known as Ariel, formed itself into what would soon become the daughter of the Blair family. Twenty-four year old Daniel and his twenty-two year old wife Cecily had been trying for a baby, but were experiencing complications. Neither of them were terribly religious, but when their daughter was born, they both had her christened in a nearby Lutherin Church.
That baby girl grew into a little girl, who lived a normal life. After college she became an intern for the FBI, earning the title of Detective. It was while working with FBI agent Victor Henrickson that twenty-six year old Valerie Blair met the two brothers with whom her future lay.
