The fifteenth day of summer started out at the Burrow like all the rest. Mrs. Wesley downstairs making the kids breakfast, Ron and Harry in Ron's room, and Hermione was in her good friend Ginny's room. Just like all the other days, Hermione was the first one up. She was never the one to sleep in late. Hermione kicked the blanket off her chest, letting it fall into her lap, and stared out the window. It was a normal morning: the sun sat where the moon was hours before, the birds were up and chirping, and temperature was already rising.
As she turned, she lied her eyes upon the young Ginny Wesley, who was still sound asleep. She caught her breath as the light shined upon Ginny. The girl was lying in her bed, and the sun was shining right on her face, making Ginny look like the princess that Hermione knew she was. There was no denying that she had an attraction to the young girl, and in her imagination that Ginny would someday be her girlfriend. She knew that they were just friends, but that didn't keep Hermione from waiting in anticipation for the day that their relationship would turn into more.
Hermione was brought out of her thoughts as Ginny started to stir.
"Mione?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Hm, nothing?" she said, looking away. She didn't really want to explain why she was staring at the young girl.
"You were staring at me, Mionie," Ginny said, this time being more direct.
"Um, well…" Hermione watched Ginny sit there blinking, waiting for an answer. "Well you see… I think you're kind of… cute," she whispered.
"Cute?" Ginny repeated.
"Yeah, I think you're cute," Hermione said with more confidence now. "I love how the sun shines through the open window against your skin, how you roll over in your sleep, how gentle your smile is," she started to rant. If Hermione started talking about all the things she thought were cute about Ginny, they would be there until the start of the term.
Ginny smiled up at her older friend and smiled. She then got up and proceeded to walk over to Hermione's bed.
"It's okay, I think you're cute too," Ginny whispered in her ear. Hermione blushed and looked down at her sheets.
Ginny lightly touched her cheek, bringing Hermione out of her thoughts. When Hermione met Ginny's eyes, she couldn't help it. She moved forward, letting her lips capture the younger girl's lips, bringing her in for a passionate kiss.
FIN.
