The Ninth Horcrux
It was May 3, 1998. What was the significance of this day you ask? Well, nothing much except for the fact that yesterday was the Battle of Hogwarts in which Harry Potter took down the Dark Lord once and for all. Everything in the Wizarding World was back to normal. No more hiding from Death Eaters. No more being afraid of the Dark Lord. Nobody had to worry anymore. The Dark Lord was finally gone. Or so everyone thought.
Most people that were fighting at Hogwarts the day before stayed in the dormitories or in the Great Hall that night. After the day's events, it was a sleepless night for most. The next day after the battle, they took all the bodies and buried them at a site near Hogwarts that would soon be made into a memorial for all those who had fallen in the Battle of Hogwarts. Some people volunteered to do this. Harry Potter was one of them. He felt it was his fault that these people were dead, and he felt that he would be dishonoring them if he did not do this. He was accompanied by his best friend, Ron Weasley, and also by several Hogwarts student and staff. Others sent letters to the fallen's families. Harry and Ron's best friend Hermione Granger was one of the people part of this job. It was emotionally difficult for her to see all her classmates', friends', and teachers' bodies-all of them lifeless and cold. After all of the bodies had been moved, there was only one body left. Voldemort's. Harry and Ron had volunteered to move his body, but they had no idea what to do with it. They were happy they didn't have to move any of the other Death Eater's bodies seeing as the rest of the remaining, living Death Eater's had already moved their bodies. The one body that was left was their leader's. Everybody thought that that was quite peculiar. But soon they found out it wasn't peculiar at all. When Harry and Ron went to the place of Voldemort's body, it was nowhere to be found. Most people thought that the Death Eaters had came back and retrieved his body. There were quickly proved wrong. After about 5 minutes of standing there, Harry, and Ron, and Hermione, and everybody else at Hogwarts, heard this eerie, scary, chilling, but familiar (but not in a good way), creep into their heads. It said Everybody...so happy...so calm...so relaxed. Glad you had a little...break. Though... it might interest you to know...I am not gone. There are nine horcruxes. Another horcrux...that I never meant to make. You thought I was dead.. but I was just...wounded. I have reunited with my remaining Death Eaters. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, I now speak directly to you. If you try to destroy this last, final horcrux, I will destroy not only you, but every last person who is trying to help you in any way. Beware, Hogwarts, beware Hermione Granger, beware Ron Weasley, beware Harry Potter. One wrong move, and you will be...eliminated.
