Hey! I'm finally back on fanfiction! *cheers* Admist all the updates I plan to do to this week, I also wanted to post two of the poems I wrote at bible camp. This one I wrote after being chosen to be a team leader, something I didn't feel prepared for. I thought about all the leaders in the Bible (Jacob, Moses, David, etc) and how they were not really likely choices either, and then this poem came out. Hope you enjoy!

I do not know why you have chosen me

I am not a leader

I am scared of public speaking, of people reading these words so close to my heart and laughing cruelly

I am not courageous or brave

I am not a perfect Christian

My life is not put together and secure

I do not know why you have chosen me

But then I look into your Word and see that I am not the first unlikely choice you have made

You chose the underdog, the youngest, the weakest, to be your closest servant

You chose the gentle Jacob, the younger son, to be the leader of the tribe of Israel

You choose him despite his faults, his selfish deceit of his father

You chose Moses, a man who could not speak very well, to go to the Pharaoh and plead for freedom

You could've chosen his brother Aaron, a wonderful public speaker

But you didn't want Aaron

You wanted Moses despite his speaking problems or maybe even because of it

You chose David, the supposed weakest son, to be the king of Israel

You did not chose any of his stronger older brothers

You picked great leaders

Jacob was faithful to You. He was blessed with many descendants, and through the sorrow he suffered You were there with him

Moses lead his people out of Egypt. He followed You through the dessert faithfully for forty years and was delivered to the Promised Land.

David did your will. He became king and united Israel, and though he sinned he always repented and came back to You.

In the end, it doesn't matter why you chose me

It matters that I was chosen

I am not a leader

But, with You by my side, I can try to be
