"Reddy! Be quiet or you'll wake up everyone from here to Lytell's store!" Trixie said in a harsh whisper. Trixie peered into the cool night, scanning the yard for any thing unusual. She saw nothing out there, just the normal things and the toys Bobby left there. "Reddy, there's nothing-" she stopped herself short when she noticed what seemed like a small heap of blankets left next to the Belden's driveway. "Ugh, Bobby," Trixie groaned as she grabed a flashlight. She pressed the small black button on it, turning it on, and flooded the room with light. Trixie opened the door to a slight gap and slipped out, keeping Reddy in.
Trixie felt the cool air nipping at her arms, ankles, and face, and since she was only wearing slippers on her feat, each step was a small ache of ice and pain.
When she reached the heap, she noticed that it was not blankets at all. Trixie stiffled a scream. It was a girl. She wore a tattered white dress and had brown, curly hair. She looked fiffteen or sixteen, so around Brian's age. She was cut and burned with a gash in her forearm.
Trixie nudged the girl with her big toe. The girl groaned in an aching manner, then spoke.
"Trixie," She moaned, her voice hoarse with pain."Help me."
