Pranksters

I sometimes wonder why we are never caught. We must be the only students out of bed at this time of night. But then, good pranksters are never caught. And James and Sirius are the best pranksters in the world. "This way!" whispered Sirius and pointed at the passage to their right. They were in the dungeons of Hogwarts castle and searching the entrance to the Slytherin common room. Although, searching might not be the right word, if you already know where it is. As we do. I couldn't have gotten it out of a Slytherin, not even if he was my brother, but Sirius has his methods of making Regulus tell him anything. I wish I had the nerve to blackmail someone without being beaten up afterwards. "That's it," said Sirius and they stopped in front of an innocent looking piece of dungeon wall. "Well, let's get to work, boys," grinned James and pulled the Invisibility cloak off them. "Remus, Peter, you do the Trip Jinxes, and Sirius and me will do some experiments with Colour Charms." I laughed nervously. Why can't I stay under the cloak, if we don't need it? I'm feeling much saver in it then standing around fully visible in front of the entrance to the Slytherins common room. But I won't ask, for I don't want to be turned down by James again. I'm a Gryffindor, I shouldn't be afraid. Why am I still? Just as Remus finished the Trip Jinxes all around the door, there was a noise from behind it. James had the presence of mind to throw the cloak over all of us and retreat into a corner. The black stonewall parted in the middle and swung to the sides soundlessly. Guess who was standing there? You are exactly right. Of all persons to come out of the Slytherin common room at one in the morning, it has to be Severus Snape. Can you believe our luck? Not daring to move, the Marauders watched Snape look around sharply, then hurry down the passage. Well, Remus' Trip Jinxes have always been better than mine. I don't think I laughed so much and so quiet in my whole life. Snape looked as if doing a dog paddle in mid-air, then he fell face first onto the floor. James and Sirius were crying with mirth, even Remus looked amused. It's good he did a Silencing Charm on us, though, or Snape would have heard us. And he didn't seem too well tempered. After putting himself together and getting off the ground, he took out his wand and spat the countercurse to remove our jinxes. When he was finished, his hair was shining green. I could have laughed myself silly. And the best bit was, Snape hadn't noticed. The dungeon was dark and it wasn't likely he'd look into the mirror before next day. Unfortunately, he went back into the common room after that, or James would surely have found a way to land him with Filch. I wonder whether he'd have laughed?
